Weird throughts of smoking

Grandma, I wish this was easier, I wish there was a day like, day 60, when we never think of another smoke again, but the reality is, that we will. Maybe day 70 or day 180 or even day 892. I hope I make it to day 892, I want to be confident not cocky that I can stay quit. This addiction is tricky and makes us rationalize buying that next pack, the pack that makes us smoker's again. For me, this really isn't about days smoke free as much as it is about healing myself and staying away from cigerettes. I work with Cancer patient's daily and I see the devasting effect these things have on our bodies. It's not just lung cancer, but throat cancer and mouth cancer too. I don't want that for my future. I miss my cigerette's and I wish I don't have to give them up, but they won't let me go and they would have killed me if I continued to smoke. Stay strong Grandma, don't let it suck you back in!!! It sucked me back in and it took me 9 months to quit again!! It might be a milestone craving, grandma, or there might be something else on your mind that you are trying to avoid dealing with? Maybe the junkie in your head is trying to convince you that she can help you with it? If that's it, you know it isn't true. Also, grandma, we're all different & I hope you'll tell me if not my business, but what about a reward that's just for you? That isn't fixing something or replacing something. What about something that isn't necessary, that just looks pretty or smells nice or reminds you of somewhere or someone you love. Be good to yourself, be proud of yourself, take some time to celebrate what a hard thing you're doing & how well you're doing it. You're doing great, grandma, tell yourself so! Reward well I've done that tomorrow the old guy is tearing out my dry rotted deck and then will have topsoil and rototilling and the sod put in. Granson gets the old chairs and table. Still have another patio on side that was a neat place to smoke. If it"s a reward I've been getting my teeth fixed up with root planing and a new crown so I sure don't want any smoking to damage that after the pain and expense. Coming soon making them white again. I know that but why do I want to blow it all again? It was so much easier last year when I quit. I don't have a clue why. Last night I dremt I found a huge cigaret (like cigar size) in a parking lot. It was slightly wet and was a menthol brand so I looked around and picked it up to smell it to see if it was dog pee or sonething on it, I was so excited and then I woke up..disappointed that it was only a dream. I went to the grocery store with the atm machine to get some money and went back to my car looking at the cigaret store..should I dare..but I went home kind of discouraged thinking how can this happen. I've been good I am trying to lose the 10 lbs. I have all my coping skills in place why does this happen. It's too early to go to bed, getting too dark to walk I went in the bathroom and screamed. Maybe tomorrow will be better I think I lost a pound according to my scale go to WW tomorrow. supercraving judy My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 67 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 536 Amount Saved: $134.00 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 21 Mins: 18 Seconds: 8

kaiti, that worked for me & stil does. If I imagine the smell of a lit cigarette, I actually get nauseous & light-headed. Just seeing someone light up through the window, gags me. When I hear the junkie whispering that "just one" crap to me, I take a second to visualize actually lighting one, imagining the smell, the disgusting taste, the smoke burning my throat. It actually makes me want to throw up. Then I shout "WHOOHOO!!" Smoking Stinks... I work in a retail shop, the customers that smell like cig. smoke makes me sick, too. I can not believe that I thought I could hide that smell??? My husband smokes outside, but I have a hard time getting to close to him the smell is awful.. I think this is motivational!!! Kaitilina, Not suprising unfortunately. The smoking population as a whole is much more susceptible to illness and complications related to illness. Ex: A simple cold turns into pneumonia as a result of smoking while ill. Let this strengthen your resolve and thanks for sharing it with the group. Congrats on 14 days! Kaitilina, It is a huge shock for all us ex-smokers to find out that ALL SMOKERS smell like that.....and we used to use mints and gum to freshen up our mouths. What use if that when our whole body, hair, clothes etc. reak of stale smoke. Keep fighting those voices! Kill the junkie! 14 days non-smoking!!!!!!!! Made it through Friday night with a chick flick, bath and a book, and the rest of the weekend was BUSY and a blur, so there was no time to think about smoking (thank goodness it wasn't an all weekend little voice fest!!). An interesting observation, I was at an urgent care with one of my kid's last night, and as people walked in the waiting room to check in for one illness or another, a majority of them WREAKED of cigerette smoke, like they had taken a bath in it. The smell made me almost sick to my stomache (and I wasn't the one that was sick). I'm trying to keep that smell in my head so that the next time the voices attack, I want to remember how very badly they made me smell (in addition to the 5,000 other reasons we shouldn't smoke). Fight the voices everyone, they are not wise or smart!!!!
