THE PATCH

for 18 år siden 0 21 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Bubba,Danielle, Phoebe, Phil and Katy, Thank you so much. The general consensus seems to be, to follow the recommended dosage of patch but play it by ear. If today is anything to go by I think I will follow the full course. I found it very difficult today and I think I am coming down with the flew and I am extremely busy at work, having just set up my own business. But I am determined and I will fight on. Thanks again to you all. Happy & Katy, Sound advice. I will probably follow it. I do have a tendency to be impatient. To want to do something now rather than later. But this quitting lark is a process as you say. Thank you. I am using the patch 21mgs at present. I am determined to quit smoking and confident that I will. I intend to use up 2 weeks worth of patches that I have left over from a previous failed attempt to quit. After that I intend to go cold turkey. Am I wise? Should I follow the recommended patch dosage? I used to smoke about 25 cigs per day. I would like to hear your thoughts. The first time I tried to quit I did just that and stopped much earlier and didn't do the step down process. Which obviously didn't work. I know for me 2 weeks wouldn't be long enough. I've read that some people on here don't stick with each mg patch as long as recommended and I think if you feel good then that would work. I'm going to the 14mg at a little before 4 weeks and going to have a couple 21mg one's handy if needed. Always do what you feel is best for you and going to help you stay with it. Anyways just my thoughts. Good Luck! Hi Bod - I'm not sure how much good the patches will do you if you are only using them for 2 weeks. You might just be better to go straight to cold turkey???? Patches helped me alot, but I weaned myself down to nothing as prescribed. I think the jump from 21 mgs for nothing would have been pretty rough for me. All the best with your quit! Best advice is to do whatever you need to do to keep your quit... The "whatever" is different for each of us. BOD Take a look at my post NRT to be or not to be that is the question! I remain uncertain about the benefits of NRT even though I have quit with it. BOD, Please consult your doctor or pharmacist. He/she is the best authority to advise you on this matter as they are able to take into consideration your medical history and level of addiction. It is generally recommended that the patch program be followed at length. 21mg to 0mg is a big step down, not to say it can't be done if you're well prepared. You sound determined. Good for you. I think staying with the full program would probably be the best for you. To do less than the recommended dosages would seem to be difficult. I used the 21's, 14's & 7's for 4 weeks each and if work like a charm. I have never looked back. Why not get in a routine recommended program and give it your best opportunity to succeed. Good luck regardless.
