Taking some print outs from the site here on your trip is a great Aloha idea if you can't access the SSC... The laughter is good, thanks. I think I was/am just kind of fantasizing out loud -- you are so right: trips are a trigger for me to confront and overcome, and so I shall. (But you'll forgive me for resisting the temptation to dance in my undies -- it would scare the rest of the group away!) I'm still like, Did those nine months mean anything?? Why am I still thinking like a crazy person?? I don't get that part of it... pete My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/25/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: $33.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 23 Seconds: 36

Pete, I hear ya, but you have to get past it. It is only when you keep quitting that the cravings stop. As you keep going those moments, when you used to smoke, will be replaced by wow I didn't even think about smoking. Keep your quit reasons, and I assume one is that photo? lovely, close, in your pocket as you travel, and be ready with some gum or mints okay? Check in as can and hang tough, some one is here all the time if you need help. Peteg, sorry for laughing, but this is so classic "Weirdest or Oddest Junkie Thought" material "I really want this quit, but once I'm in North Dakota it's okay to smoke"....or something like that? It is no surprise that you are still being triggered so early in this quit, and especially triggered by the thought of traveling, since that is when the junkie won last time, and ruined that beautiful 9 month quit. I hope you have some powerful ammunition for that f##!*er this time!!!!!! When I traveled early in my quit I knew I wouldnt be able to get here too often or at all, so I printed out a few meaningful posts and took them with me (Junkie Thinking and A Little Help for my Friends). Used 'em, too ;) I am confident that by being prepared for that stupid junkie, you can accomplish this trip smoke free. Give yourself some little rewards, and think how proud you will feel when you return smoke free! I'm having "issues" with my quit meter. I am SO at 7 days today, but it only says 6. Totally smoke free. But. I did 9 months smoke free last year and blew it when my company told me I had to travel for a month (mother in law just had a stroke, spouse had to deal with her, our pets, and everything else on her own while I would be gone), so I caved. At the time it was the best/only way for me to cope. I caught holy hell from the SCC crowd for it, so I backed off. Here I am back again, and on my way to the airport again. I keep thinking that it will be no big deal if I cop a smoke once or twice on this trip. (Going to North Dakota for a week. SO COLD.) I know that's crazy. I love this quit, this is The Quit for me! I just know it. So why am I even THINKING of sneaking a smoke?? I feel so dirty and sleazy! (Here's the problem; since I'm on travel, I have only my work computer; not sure if the IT Powers that Be will allow me to get to you. They block Web e-mail, instant message services, and chat. I'll try and log in once I arrive in Bismarck.) I'm pretty sure I can weather this storm, but the "lower brain" is wielding a lot of power these days and keeps telling me that once I'm at the airport, I'm home free. I don't want to be home free, I want to be smoke free. But, God have mercy on me, I also want a smoke in the worst way. This quit has been weird -- every day has been more difficult than the last. Never been that way before... getting so worn down by the unexpected battles on Days 6 and 7... pete My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/25/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: $33.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 13 Seconds: 27
