Hey try again, you out there?
I have had a pretty intense few days, but it is starting to let up a little now. It has been 2 full weeks with no nicotine. I am proud..It is not too bad after the first 3 days. Smoking was/is so ingrained in our lives. But, you are staying smoke free...someday we will truly be free..no smoking craves, no thoughts, no triggers..as you know, it does take a while. Hope you are doing well.

Hi Try again,
Are you chewing the nicotine gum? I thought that I remembered from a previous post that you replaced the nic gum with regular gum. Anyway, now that I am off the nrt, it is starting to get better. Chewing, chewing, chewing..if the cravings are not for the gum and you can not stand cigs...what are the cravings? Maybe you should ditch the gum so you can start to get the "doing something with your mouth" under control. Buy a week's worth of 7mg patches and then, be done with the nrt. You NEED to get off the nrt so you will start to feel better; that is why you are still craving so often. The first 3 days are a little anxious, weepy, and cravey..but after that, it does get better. Did you ever read Allen Carr's book? Let me know when you plan to come off the nrt. i will go on IM if you need to talk.

tryagain, I know I'm probably not telling you anything you already don't know, but those NRT's are only supposed to be used for a certain amount of time. It sounds like you've been on them for a long time. I found in my past quits when I used NRT's, that the products were actually stronger than a cigarette. So that being said, if you have been using them this long, and are exposing yourself to higher doses of nicotine, you have got a fight in front of you. Good luck, I hope you can find the right path for yourself. Keep posting.

I think I've gone from milestone to milestone with no respite in between. I don't know whether I've got the 6 month cravings still hanging on, or the 9 month cravings, or am getting ready for the year cravings. I know one thing. I have 220 days of cravings. What makes it even worse is that I know I'm a non-smoker. I can't stand the things. Yet I still want the pleasant feelings I had, even with the unpleasant feelings I had.
I have gone from chain smoker to chain chewer. I transferred the cigs to gum. I have tried to quit the gum and unfortunately, the cravings aren't for gum, they go all the way back to cigarettes! Which is like starting all over again, cold turkey. I know I am going to have to find my way out of this mess. I just don't know what it is right now.

thanks everyone,
I do not know if milestone craves are a myth or not. I just know how I felt last night..maybe it is subconcious from expecting them. I am off to work right now. I'm still anxious..packed a whole baggie of sunflower seeds for the day. Die nico, die!

I get those too when I have reached a goal. I am not sure if they would ever taste nasty to me. I do know that that one cig would take me back to being a slave all over again. Sure there are thoughts of if only, but we know what that means. So we have to changed our thoughts. Let's see, we can think about the freedom of not smoking has given us. We can think about how good we smell :eg: We can think about how our health is improving. I am sure you can think of a lot of things. Now the urge is gone. Have a great day.
Keep the Quit

That's great newme. I suppose one is bound to think of smoking on a day you are so aware marks a milestone in your not smoking. If it's on your mind, it's reasonable to think it's going to be on your mind. If you know what I mean.
Carlos - That's too funny! Glad to see you're keeping your sense on humor today! ;p
