To sleep or not to sleep

Sleep tends to be my escape. Without a nap in the middle of the day I'm wired all night. I may tend to go to bed later in the evening due to my mid-day nap but it's the only way I an function in this somewhat crazy manner.

I have not had a long night of sleep in a while, but if I get six hours I feel solid the next day. I woke up this morning at 6:45. I fell asleep around 1:30 ish. That's nearly 6 hours. I only got around four and a half hours the night before. I am on no other meds anymore other than valium once or twice a day. I think my main problem with sleep is that I was on triavil for a long time and no longer am. I also was on prozac. I slept way too much while on that. I know it will all even out and there are nights (like 3 nights ago) where I fell asleep around 12:30 and awoke around 7:30. That felt like 15 hours. LOL. David

Here I am, the night owl. I am constantly fighting for sleep. Just one day this week, I was up for 36 hours. I didn't plan to stay awake that day and night and the next day, it just happened. The following night, I fell asleep the moment my head hit my pillow. Wow, I slept for a "whopping" 6 whole hours. I beg the sun to go down at night and it's a struggle to try to stay awake to watch "Wheel of Fortune". I take 450mg of Trazadone to get me to sleep. Other times I can sleep for 12-14 hrs at a stretch, not move a muscle, and awaken feeling as though I only just blinked my eyes. This has been going on for years. I do have other health conditions other than panic, anxiety and depression. I also have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue syndrome. For supper tonight, I made home style mashed potatoes. It's been over a month since I last cooked supper, but felt like I could make an attempt to stand in front of the sink. I peeled and cubed 8 potatoes and made a skillet cake of buttermilk cornbread. I was completely exhausted by performing the task, and my husband (for several years now) has to lift the skillet for me. I also no longer have the stamina to walk our dog anymore. One day when I walked him, I had to use my cell phone to call my daughter, to drive around the corner to pick us up. All I want is normal sleep, Della from SC

OK, pardon the pun. LOL. I have some nights where I will fall asleep by 12:30 and not wake until 7:30. A solid night of sleep. Then there's last night where I fell alseep around 12:30 and woke, wide awake at 5:15. These type of nights do not scare me as often as they used to. But being that I am off meds all together now (save for the occasional valium) I think I am doing better than I thought. I see my therapist nearly once every two weeks and I am in contact ith my M.D. about these situations. Anyone else have any sleep stories to share involving or not involving meds. I often had trouble sleeping, mainly falling asleep, while on meds. And then I had trouble waking. No trouble waking now. David
