A little dissappointed Pete you never wrote back to let us know how you are doing I take it from no reply life must be grand and your doing well. Just wanted to say thanks for what info you did give.
It's Fri Apr 8 today talk to my doctor yesterday he will keep me on 75mg until I see him on the 20th. So it has been a full 10days now on Effexor no side effects what so ever! Feeling pretty **** good still have a little trouble with sleeping but that has always been my first symptom of depreesion and last to leave. No real anxiety. One panic attack I know the cause of that it was a train...lol.. can't stand being in traffic and your stuck there because of a train. I didn't take any activan. Was bad but not extreme ya know. I am sure the doc will put me up another 37.5 for sure when I see him. Will keep posting just like Pete.
Where are you Pete looking forward to hear how things are going for you?

I have been taking the 150mg for a couple days I dont think the increase takes a instant effect so it will probably take a few more days at least. I don't feel much different, a little bit of anxiety but I think that is because I was worried a bit about taking 2 pills instead of 1. I got a busy weekend coming up so I am sure it will take my mind off things a bit.

Happy to hear everything is going good. I am up to 75mg now I don't see my doc till April 6. I am sure then that I will be going up too I will still wean myself up too. So far I have been fine too no side effects at all. Well I did have a headache for 1 1/2 days when I reached 75mg I don't think it was due to the effexor though as I was really tired and pushed myself to stay up and read I was doing some research... my bad. I am feeling better too not nearly as anxious and I have not been crying at a drop of a dime. I know I will need to be increased though as I still get irritated and a few other depressive symptoms and a little anxiety symptoms too not as nearly as bad as there were though. Look forward to your news and progress.

My Psych actually perscribed that I go to 150mg so today I began taking 2 - 75mg doses. I had 2 this morning for the first time and it is now after lunch about 6 hours later and haven't had any wierd symptoms or anything. I will keep you updated on how I progress throughout the week now that I am up to 150mg.

I visited the psych the other day and she recommended that I increase to 150mg, so I will be taking 75mg plus and 37.5 for a week then moving to 2 75mg I guess I havent got the perscription as of yet. I have been doing really well that past couple weeks but occasionally I do get some lingering of symptoms usually balance or funny vision(very rare but still occur at times), I am also much more relaxed which is nice. The psych said that 75mg is really just a starting dose and that I should move up until I feel I am at a comfortable level. No doubt the medication is helping so I will see how the increases affect me and let you all know. I will be continuing my CBT as well with my counsellor which also helped alot so hopefully these two things working together will finally put this anxiety **** to bed.
Also I had 1 beer last night while I was at home, and it didn't seem to affect me at all so I know I will ocassionally be able to have a glass of wine on Sunday dinners or if hockey ever comes back a beer while watching the game. My psych had asked me if I had any drinks since I started and I said no, I am still not sure if it is a good idea so I will hold off until I can confirm it with my dr.
Thank you Pete for starting this thread and for your contributions Tita. I'm on the first week of Effexor-37.5. Your posts have been very helpful. I was feeling very anxious yesterday, I almost couldn't stand it. I understand that can be a side effect ontil you get used to it. I feel much better myself, I was on Paxil for a few years and managed to finally wean myself off of it (that was a chore). I had heard many bad things about it. I wanted to try and do CBT alone without meds. Well.....my emotions went crazy, I was angry all the time, if I wasn't angry I wanted to cry. My dr. convinced me to go back on meds. I've noticed my emotions are much more normal now.

Went to see my pysch today I am almost at 75mg tomorrow I will be taking the whole 75 since I went up so slow I have had no side effects at all! Which I am so happy about and started to feel better and better as the days go by. I will post in a couple after being on the whole 75 I don't think I will have side affects though as I am 1/4 of a whole pill from being on a total 75! I will stay there till I see my family doc on the Apr 6.. Look forward to seeing how you doing.

I have my first appointment with my psychiatrist today so we will see how that goes. Good to hear the meds seem to be working for you. I have felt good the last few days, my stomach though sometimes feels wierd, not really a nausea feeling but more like a feeling you would get if you hadnt eaten all day. It's wierd. I will post about what happens at the psych today.
