Grapefruit juice. Maybe because I just can't imagine drinking grapefruit juice whilst smoking a cigarette. Spending a load of time reading the posts on SSC. Booked an appointment with my dentist on Monday morning - going for a full makeover now my teeth won't get stained anymore. lol...speaking of smart a**** But I agree, a walk in the park IS a good strategy. Yes, tons of water....well, not tons...you might drown, but lots of it. I used spoonfuls of mostly low fat stuff....cottage cheese, yogurt, um, ok, peanut butter too  Staying glued to this site did it for me. Now I'm trying to wean myself from the SSC ;) Laughter..that helps a lot. Actually, a walk in the park is a very good coping strategy! Exercise helps your body adjust to making its own "feel good" chemicals again, the more you do it, the more you notice how much better you feel & how much more energy you have, and it can keep the extra weight off, too. Cold water in a nozzly thing and coffee straws were my biggest quit-keepers. Next to you guys, of course. Best advice for getting through the tough times???? Yell, kick, scream, punch pillows, cry, break dishes, whatever it takes, and when that doesn't work.... You still don't smoke. Five minutes at a time if necessary. Drink plenty of ice water and take a lot of deep breaths. I cried a river of tears, reached out for help from my quit buddies here, read stories of people dying of smoking related illnesses, and got through one day at a time until the days got easier. Lets face it, quitting smoking is no walk in the park but millions of people have done it and you can do it too. The average person makes seven quit attempts before they actually quit for good. It really helps you stay on track if you set up some coping strategies, get support from others and start to think of yourself as a non-smoker. Members, lets hear what your best advice is on making it through the rough times. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator
