Just wanted to let you all know, that I am feeling much better today and I was fine over the weekend! Thank you all very much for your kind words and encouragement the other day! I really needed it! I have NOT smoked, nor will I ever again! On another note, I went to the grocery store this weekend (in New Hampshire), where ciggs are supposed to be the cheapest, and saw a big sign on the door as I went in. It read "as of July 1st, there will be an increase of $3.00 on EVERY carton of ciggs" OMG I could not believe it! I am so thankful I or my husband does not smoke anymore! Keep up the good work everyone! If I can do it, you all can also! Kathleen, I hope you're feeling better today. It's hard to see through the fog when it's all around you. I suspect you see things a little more optimistically this morning and the walls aren't closing in on you after all. Those moments are tough to navigate through. You have to trust the direction your going even though you can't see it. This wonderful thing you've decided to do is difficult, very difficult. If you've fallen then get back on your feet, it's not too late. You can do this! Kathleen, my DH posted on here some where that when you quit smoking the craves will eventually stop, but if you keep smoking you will always have a craving as long as you do it - or words to that effect. It sounded better when he posted it tho. :) Your stats are awesome!! Keep looking forward, don't step back - it feels so good to quit, I never felt this good when I smoked. These craves you have will stop if you keep quitting. Kathleen Smoking will not make you happy. Just the opposite actually. It will depress you tremendously. You are very early in your quit and it is going to take some time for your body to get over the affects that many years of smoking has had on you. Take some deep breaths, go for a walk, get out and do something different. You need something to occupy your mind. How about a new hobby? If you smoke, you will still be waiting for 5:00 (same reason), your husband will still get on your nerves and regardless of how your family feels, YOU will be so disappointed in you. Be proud of those stats and go get yourself a reward. There is nothing that smoking will do for you except kill you. When we quit we have to learn to deal with our emotions in a whole new way. This can be very difficult. You have to be willing to go with the changes that you are going through, emotionally, physically and mentally. It's all part of the withdrawal process but I pomise is will pass. In just a few days you are going to feel so much better. Take it one day at a time and keep marching forward. You are doing great! One more thing, questioning your quit is also a natural part of the process. Hi Kathleen, I have felt exactly the way you are feeling. One time, I planned to relapse,thinking the same way that you are thinking. "It will make me feel better. It will relieve this depression and I will be happy for a while". Well, guess what??? I felt better for one hour, because I fed the nicotine cravings. But, by feeding the cravings, I made the cravings worse. They came more often. One night I smoked a ton of cigs. Only to have to face the cravings again in the morning with a greater intensity. We have to accept the way that we feel, and stay smoke free. What choice is there? If we choose to smoke again, we subject ourselves to a future doomed to a life long addiction to nicotine. None of us want that. I hope you are feeling better today. Do not quit quitting. Every person that smokes wants to quit. They look at your 48 days and WISH it was them..smoke free.
