Day 3 - man this is hard

Ex, hang in there, girl. Take it one 20-minute period at the time. "I will not smoke for the next 20 minutes." And then do it again. You KNOW you can get through 20 minutes, because you have done five days. And I know you don't want to re-do those days. It's time for a great reward for all your hard work! When I first quit someone mentioned that banana's were good to help curb cravings. I ate them like crazy - I don't know if it helped or not but I did eat them. I also got addicted to peppermint candies. Every hour or so I would actually crave one! Whatever works!!! Don't forget to drink lots of water! Thanks for your encouragement everyone - it does seem like it's all up-hill at the moment - there just doesn't seem to be any break - I just finished a whole bag of Midget Gems (gummy sweets) - oh well, at least I am free of nicotine now - I can worry about the diet tomorrow...actually I haven't been too bad really - I just need to reassess how I eat - when I smoked, I survived on coffee all day and had my first and only meal around 6pm...now I have to make sure I have breakfast, lunch and dinner and get my metabolism sorted so I can try not to put on loads of weight....just not tonight though lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: 10.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 12 Mins: 12 Seconds: 37

Hi Ex, everybody has given you good advice to help you through today. Remember, you only have to do today TODAY. Tomorrow, today will be gone and done with. So just focus on now, get out and do stuff. Don't mope, be active. I used the gum for a couple of days and then like you, decided I wanted to be done once and for all with putting nicotine in my body. You're doing it...that is awesome! You are doing it - and believe me, each day gets a little easier than the day before. Just understanding the nature of the crave is important, and like you, I went cold turkey to really expel all of the nicotine out of my body rather than allow it to keep going in my bloodstream. It may seem an uphill climb, and it is - but this trek is so well worth it. Your body will become cleaner and healthier, and you can look forward to a long time to be with your children and grandchildren!
