Hopeful, I would like to learn more about your situation. Is there a way that I can contact you via email? Thank you all for your replies. Ben

Hi Ben, I too have the symptoms you've described plus MANY more. I was diagnosed with panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, mild agoraphobia and depression due to the anxiety. I'm on meds and attending CBT therapy at the hospital. I still have very bad days but some days are better. The program on this site is excellent and I think you should give it a try. You have to be dedicated and it takes time but it does work. I'm so much better now than 4 months ago. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Ben, My s/s are basically about the same, & i've been labeled with GAD w/mild social anxiety. My life (if you can even call it that) has been HELL with this disorder!! I too CANNOT take SSRI's & have tried practically EVERY antidepressant out there. Currently I am on Tofranil & Wellbutrin---------I feel terrible. The only hope i have ever read about is taking an MAO inhibitor such as Nardil------I have reached a point after 18yrs that if I can never eat a piece of cheese & live on pretzels only because of the strict dietary restrictions, I am going to give it a try----my Dr really feels it it the ONLY med that will work for people who are resistant to SSRI"S & typical antidepressants. I know that this sounds drastic, but I know I can't go on like this. My s/s are getting worse with trying sooooo many different meds & I know how frustrating this can be since i"ve been there too! You are not alone----we all suffer with you!! Take care!!

Hi BJ, It sounds similar to what I have. I have been very stressed out at work and had some real bad personal stress happen and I just kind of had a melt down. I have real trouble sleeping and have been having mini panic attacks (hot flushes, chills, tingly feeling in the limbs). I'm using some meds to help with the anxiety and stress but I am also seeing a psychologist at the current time. The psycholigist is leaning towards generalized anxiety disorder. I believe that cognitive behaviour therapy is supposed to do wonders for this problem but I guess time will tell. There is also a 12 week panic program available on this site. I've done a couple of weeks worth so far. I was using sleeping pills for about 3 weeks to get to sleep but I have been using a herbal remedy I got from a naturopath for the past week and a half and it seems to be doing the job ok. Eldon

Ummm, YEAH! You have some of the classic symptoms of General Anxiety Disorder! But first, I'll assume that you have had a complete physical, including having bloodwork to test for thyroid problems. If all physical symptoms have been ruled out, you MAY have a bit of an anxiety problem. There is a lot of info in the left hand columns of this page, PLEASE read this if you haven't already! I personally have cronic sleep problems, and lower left back pain (muscle spasms) when I'm really stressed (ie, work ), along with a lot of other physical symptoms. I'd also be interested as to what drugs you have tried in the past. I can not tolerate SSRI's (Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro), But I'm going to give Effexor a try as soon as I see my Doctor again (if he'll give me a script, anyways). I hope this helps, if you have any questions/comments, please feel free to post, there are a lot of GREAT people here who are willing to help anyway they can!

Hi, Thank you for reading. I value your feedback very much. Here goes... 29year old male. 10 years ago I was under intense mental pressure with a job and stress that I got deeply stressed out so bad that I developed some organic symptoms. I get very irritable much of the time and I feel it as a pain in the back left top part of my head. I also have trouble falling asleep and once I fall asleep I almost always wake up several times at night. Including on most nights a wake up that I cannot fall back asleep from after. I also have a slight unsteadiness in the floor below me. It feels like its slightly moving a quarter inch downward, but luckily no dizziness. I take Benadryl which helps me get any sleep. One big problem for me when I do not get solid amounts of sleep I am very irritable. I am not usually depressed and not so anxious although I do worry quite a bit. I have not had any luck with antidepressants or other meds as I am very sensitive to medicines. Have tried over 22 different meds. My question for you out there. Has anyone ever heard of someone with these identical symptoms? These 3 specific symptoms have been with me for 10 years and I have NEVER met a practioner or doctor and I have been to over 50 different people over the years who have heard of these specific symptoms. Do you or anyone you know experience these symptoms. My how I would love to exchange notes with someone who has gone through what I have. Thanks in advance for reading this and for your feedback. I appreciate it a lot. Ben
