My heart or panic/anxiety?

for 20 år siden 0 23 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi all again, Thanks for all your replies. My heart is doing much better on my new heart med. Calan. Now that that is better, other things have gotten worse. Does my mind just need something to obsess over or what?

Hi, Steve here...and I share many of the symptoms that you have gone through...I have been on EffexorXR for almost a year now...and progressively feeling "normal"...although I have forgotten what normal feels like. This evening, staying late at work I had one of my little "episodes" as I like to call them...cause there is no other way to describe it. Instead of writing my "story" here...I will post a link to it on one of my (yes, it's out of date) blogs. http://www.speakeasy.org/~sfister/blogs/ Read the story...I am interested to hear more about other people's "stories"...I think the open discussions are really helpful...knowing you are not the only one out there having this life-altering ****. Thanks and be well... ;)

This is my biggest symptom of anxiety/panic. I had a battery of tests run Monday again (after about 4 years) and again checked out fine (except for being a little out of shape) I know my mind is doing it, I tell my mind to stop it, but it just doesn't listen.

Outlaw, I know how you feel. I wrote more on this topic under your post "How Long Do They Last?" Right now I feel like I want to run too, but it doesn't work! Hang in there.

Thanks Sarah for your reply. I thought I was the only one who just felt the heart stuff (and then panic) and I don't feel much of the other well known symptoms. Though I have had the others in the past. To know I am not alone helps so much.

Hi Peace, I have a similar thing going on-my heart is my major source of anxiety these days. I have gotten through most of my symptoms and am doing pretty well now, as far as the attacks, and am making major progress with my agoraphobia, however, I still have heart pains and palpitations and often a racing heart for no reason- ie. I do not feel anxious until I notice that my heart is racing... sometimes so fast I couldn't even count my pulse!! I went to the cardiologist again last week who said that the chances of my having a heart condition are remote since I have had a few EKG's, a stress test and an echocardiogram, all of which were normal. Also I am 26, female, not overweight, don't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol and have no family history of heart disease. That should be reassuring to me but everytime I get the pains or palpitations, and when I can barely stand- up without having my heart race, I feel like he must be missing something. Anyways, I guess that the fact that I'm still here and my heart is still beating months into having this as a huge fear, is somewhat reassuring. I will not have a heart cath because then problems may be caused that were not there previously. I wish you luck- I know how hard this all is! Sarah

In 1996 I had major surgery. I woke up with a racing heart. I have had so many cardiac workups that it is getting rediculous. They have found benign PAC's in the past. All doctors and specialists tell me I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress, and Panic Disorder. This last week has topped it all off. I was barraged with this fluttering in my chest all day long and after each flutter my heart would race like 115 BPM. After going through this for a whole day, I felt flushed face, nauseated, wobbly legged, tight feeling in the chest with pain, shaky all over and my feet were so cold, and I couldn't stop going to the bathroom. I went to the hospital by ambulance at 11:00 at night. They found some PVC's on the strip in the ambulance, but not at the hospital. They told me that I was basically, well...anxious. I must admit that things in my life have taken many changes. Often, in the past, the symptoms that aren't heart related aren't there, they happen only after I have the palpitations. Has anyone here had just heart symptoms to start with and then develop all the other uncomfortable stuff...and even have it show up on strips, but then told you get these because of anxiety or panic? I have had blood tests, stress tests, EKG's, echo cardiograms, the only test I haven't had done is a heart catherization. I was put on Calan SR by my PCP a few days ago and now I am able to funtion in life somewhat. I feel so alone and so afraid.TextText
