Thank you Pamela, for posting about my father! That was so very kind of you, you are wonderful! As Pam already knows now, my Dad died on Wednesday afternoon. He had many health problems and had smoked for 60 years. We didn't get to say good bye, but my Mom and I were there when he died. He had been in a coma more or less all that day, and he died very peacefully. He took three deep breaths and I kissed him on the cheek and as soon as I did, he died. It could have been so much worse. He was only in the hospital for a couple days. I thank God for His mercy in not allowing him to suffer. Thanks to all of you who prayed for my Dad and our family. Please continue to pray for us, God bless you all! What a wonderful, compassionate group of people there are on this site!
Sue, alot of the information I got was thru people I met online thru the genealogy sites. Some of my family is Canadian and once I hooked up with a very distant relative I was able to gain a ton of information. She had copies of church records she had researched and she was more than willing to share them with me.
Maybe I should think about getting involved in it. A hobby is a great way to take your mind of anxitety and I really enjoyed doing the research. It was quite an adventure.
Wow, dCheryl! You traced your family all the way back to 1600? I wish I could do that. I went through a geneaology obsession last year, but when I couldn't get further than the late 1800's I slacked off. It's hard to get information when your ancestors were living in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
A few good things came out of it. I learned a lot about my great-grandparents (much drama there), and I found out where my great-uncle was buried. He had died during WWII and my aunt was so glad to be able to visit his grave.
I also pray Hopeful's father pulls through. My 89-year-old grandfather went through a heart attack a couple of years ago that caused a stroke and kidney failure. The doctors said he didn't even have a prayer, but he proved them wrong. He's back at home taking care of himself again, and only needed dialysis for the first few months. Amazing things can happen, especially when prayers go up.
Hi Hellen. No other dates as of yet. We had plans to get together on Valentines Day but he got home late( 8:00)and wanted to come get me and take me back to his neck of the woods. Its a 45 minute drive each way and it would have been close to 10:00 before we got over there so I just cancelled. He is suppose to come out and see me tomorrow or Thursday evening. No plans for the weekend though. I work all day Saturday and he's going on one day ski trip early in the morning Sunday. He invited me to go but I can't ride on a bus. I get extremely panicky on a bus!
Hi Pamela! Glad you are doing well. Hope it continues for you. Please still come in periodically and let us know. I so love hearing that people are doing good. Tell Hopeful our thoughts and prayers are with her dad and to come and talk to us if she needs us.
Cheryl
Hello everyone! Was just browsing and noticed the post about where everyone was. I've been doing really well lately and haven't been here for several days, but I did just receive an e-mail from hopeful and her father is in the hospital because of a mild heart attack, but his kidneys and lungs are failing and she is asking for prayer. So everyone please lift Hopeful and her father Scottie up in prayer. Hope everyone else is having a good day! Bye!
Oh my god. I spent a year and half working on my ancestors. I got really obsessed with it. Traced one family back to the 1600 and met so many helpful people on line along the way.
I used that Family Tree Maker program. Had eveything stored on my PC and thought I was the bomb. About a month ago the **** PC crashed....and guess what? Dumb old me never made a back up disc of the information. Can you believe it??
I do have everything on paper. It printed out to about 300+ sheets, but I just don't feel like putting it all back in the program. So for now I have given up on it.
Well Cheryl, today I just browse for new messages in between letting the dogs out, doing some ancestry research, and basically trying to just soak in the day. Hee hee
