The only way I was able to quit before was being pregnant. The smell just nauseated me, and it was easy, the longet I have quit is 3yrs, but I cant use the pregnancy thing. But it did work all 4 times.

well it has been almost 7 hours and it is getting harder to fight those cravings, I keep trying to justify why I should have one. but I know I cant crack. I have eaten about a half pound of pretzels so far. Right now I am not worrying about weight gain only the not smoking, so I guess if thats what I have to do for now I will. The hardest part is sitting and watching my soap,LOL!!! That is my free time, so now I am having a hard time with this. I love the idea of this support system, I have never used one before, but with your help I know I can do it. Today I am a non smoker!!!! Patti

Hang in there. Are you using any NRT's or other medications to get you through the first couple of weeks or are you going cold turkey. You have the right attitude. If the pretzels are gone, try hard candies or make yourself some hot tea. I was not a tea drinker before I started my quit, but now I truley enjoy drinking it. It is very relaxing, and now adays they come in all kinds of flavors. Also, I purchased a regular tea pot that goes on the stove, so it takes a little time to make the tea, so when I'm ansy or bored, I start up my tea pot and pick out a favorite flavor. What it takes to get you through these first few days. Do not give in. You are strong and you can make it through. One hour at a time if need be. What did you try in your previous quit(s)? You may find that you have to change routines. Can you watch your soap somewhere else? Move the TV. Re-arrange your furniture. Stand on your head (only if you have a Dr's note). Break out. This crave will pass, if you let it, and you'll have some footing again. At least you're not smok'n. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/19/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $45 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 26 Seconds: 38

Changing routines for me helped a lot. Remember to do a lot of deep breathing exercises.. breathe in ,,, breathe out... do this several times when the cravings hit and feel the flow your breath inside your chest.. the rhythm.. keep repeating this over and over again. Also, post post post! We're always here for you. This wonderful little village here is filled with the most awesome people who help, support, advise, comfort and at times throw in a joke or two and suddenly, when you didn't think it would be possible they will bring a smile to your face :) Bottom line - You are never alone in your quit :) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 576 Amount Saved: $252 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 3 Mins: 26 Seconds: 54
