Hi Cassey, I experienced the same at 32 days, I call it mini depression it goes away, quitting smoking is hard and we go through all sorts of emotions ups and downs but the best is to deal with it one day at a time and then the days add up to months etc and this will only me a memory :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 42 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 637 Amount Saved: $168 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 14 Mins: 28 Seconds: 12

Hi Cassey, I have a theory regarding this slump some people seem to get in around their anniversaries. When we celebrated things in the past, when we were happy about our accomplishments in the past ... what did we do? We smoked. Right now, in our Quits, we are really focused on not smoking. We are really focused on the fact that we made it 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, etc. without smoking, that we do not see the correlation of this trigger. My idea to keep this from happening every milestone is to fake it till you make it. In other words, CELEBRATE. And do not let anything stop you from CELEBRATING! Start making non smoking memories on top of those old smoking memories. Then with each celebration/milestone I really believe it will get better and better. I love my celebrations/milestones. No blues or trigger or craves ... just PARTY TIME! Congrats to you for your smoke free month. You are well on your way to total FREEDOM! Keep up the good work! Hi Cassey, Your buddies here are right, it sounds like withdrawal from nicotine. This is a drastic lifestyle change.I too felt sad...almost like missing an old friend(a friend who will kill you!)but that is what the nicotine monster does, it tries to grad hold of us--don't let it.If you feel the need for an antidepressant, talk to your doctor or you can also just keep coming here. We all understand what you are going through.Remember N.O.P.E. Here's a hug, Trudy :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 126 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,911 Amount Saved: $376.74 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 19 Mins: 30 Seconds: 40

Agh, I remember the quitting depression. It hit HARD. I cried for no reason, was upset at everything, felt drastic, constantly wanted to go back to bed. Everyone says it will pass -- and it will. I was surprised, actually, how quickly it passed. Couple of weeks of the blues, at the most, and I was back up and at 'em. My advice is to find something that cheers you up and do it. Get active and cope with the depression. Do your best not to mull on the fact that you're sad. Ride the waves of depression and realize that sometimes these things can make us deeper, richer people who appreciate happiness more. Don't make any life-changing decisions while you're depressed. Don't smoke, you'll feel worse. Just relax and aim to feel better. Take some vitamins. Rent some videos. Buy some whipped cream for your coffee. Keep your head up! You can get through this. Good luck, quitter My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 144 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,891 Amount Saved: $309.6 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 13 Mins: 17 Seconds: 39

That's too bad - I'm sorry you were sad. I hope you feel a bit better this morning. Sounds like you might be in the 30 day slump period. I remember feeling a bit down at that point myself. It didn't last that long. I started walking and that helped me. I hope you feel better soon - if not - see a doctor and keep talking to us. We are here to help you. Good job on your quit. Keep it up! Morning all, I think I have been doing very well with my quite. It hasnt been easy but I am getting there. I have been ready to give up, but I have stayed strong and stuck with it. I do have a question I just dont understand why I feel so sad. Last night I was awake most of the night, just staring out into the night. No thoughts in my mind just emptyness and sadness. Thanks Cassy My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 551 Amount Saved: $382.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 6 Mins: 25 Seconds: 3
