It has been about 3 weeks, alittle more. I am doing fine without the Wellbutrin, I was worried that I may smoke once I got off the meds, I had a rough patch last weekend, but made it through. Now I can say I am saving money by not smoking, I was spending about the same on the Wellbturin that I used to spend on smokes. I was ok with that, a much better thing to spend on, just happyy not having to dish out $100 a month!! Jan and ironic...do you sleep ok? I have not slept since I started the Welbutrin, which was ok because I was quit. I want a good night's sleep. I plan to call my doc on Monday, it was prescribed In March, but I didn't quit till Sept. I still have 2 refills, I know I need a professional on this one, just wondering everyone's experience. Thanks for you replys Terri My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/28/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,514 Amount Saved: $356 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 2 Mins: 17 Seconds: 5

Ter, So far my experience has been positive with wellbutrin. I'm sleeping OK. Now that I've started this, I'm weaning off a low dose of paxil. Paxil made me more anxious than anything. Talk to your doctor but you really have to come off some of these meds slowly. Coming off paxil was horrible. Even at a low dose you still get the "zaps". I don't know about wellbutrin, best to check. I'm so glad to hear the wellbutrin's working for you, Freebird. I've nearly been on it 10 days and I'm starting to notice a difference. Not only are my cravings rapidly decreasing, but I'm feeling better in myself. Any other experiences with wellbutrin(Zyban). I'm actually sleeping through the night now.!!! Interesting question, ter. Not that I can answer it, its just that I started wellbutrin last week, and I'd like to know the answer as well. I agree its an individual thing, my doctor has recommended a year for me as well, same reason depression. She also said that it will help me to stay quit and get to that one year mark where you are "safer" as you've gone through all the seasons. Don't know if this helps or not My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 147 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,142 Amount Saved: $576.24 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 9 Mins: 47 Seconds: 50

Ter, Please seek the advice of your doctor on this matter. He/she is the best authority to advise you on this matter. If you're experiencing side effects as a result of taking Wellbutrin, inform your doctor. He/she will be able to provide you with the options available and best suited for you. Some medications require to be tapered before ceased completely. As I mentionned, it is therefore strongly recommended to abstain from stopping or decreasing medication without having first consulted your MD. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

I have to agree with what everyone else is saying here. I am on wellbutrin to help with depression as well. Working with our family doctor, we actually found out that depression runs very strong in our family genes. When I first quit smoking, there were things that I said that even I coulnd't believe I was saying, let alone my wife having to put up with my mood swings. Once I got on Wellbutrin, it took a good month for me to start feeling like myself again. Now it has been over two months of Wellbutrin and over 100 days of not smoking, along with just over 30 days of running 1 to 2 miles everyday and lifting every other day and I feel like the best I have ever felt. At least for me, after discussing with my Doc, I may have to stay on some type of depression medication for the rest of my life, whether it's Wellbutrin or some other type in the future. Always check with your doctor before going off the medication, and I would suggest that if you do, make a 30 day appointment with them after going off it, so they can do a general check up.
