Unhooked Butter Fly Swimmer wrote about this in another post and I think she is spot on. What she was saying is that the addiction is a behavioral problem. In many ways very much like old Pavlov and his dogs...We have rewarded ourselves for so long with cigarettes and the drug is so addictive that that our "natural" response to the stimuli of success (reaching a milestone) is to reward our selves with a smoke. This demonstrates just how deeply ingrained the smoking response is in our minds... But as you say forwarned is forarmed and you have done well to beware the luking trolls beneath the milestone bridge... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 200 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,000 Amount Saved: $1,400.00 Life Gained: Days: 36 Hrs: 14 Mins: 21 Seconds: 47

Thanks everybody, I'm going to be OK. I have lost other quits around the 1-month mark but this one is rock solid. Kita, nice to see you again. Unhooked I had those "milestone" craves for a while too. In fact, I started dreading milestones. For me, I think it was tied into being used to rewarding myself with a cig for a job well done. Once I figured that out, I anticipated the possibility and prepared for it. Rewards are good. Just like gifts to others, they don't have to be expensive, it's just the thought that counts ;) Have you seen that thread with free and low cost rewards? Has some good suggestions. Now, if you can afford expensive rewards for every milestone, I've got plenty of suggestions for those too.....lol You're doing great and know that this little episode of stronger urges will pass soon -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 84 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,360 Amount Saved: $571.20 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 19 Mins: 24 Seconds: 17

Unhooked, Stay strong and get through the 30 day craves. I remember them and you just need to work through it. Whenever you crave try to think of your body as healing. They will pass and may come again it is something we need to prepare for. Crosswords are good I had a bad weekend with craves last week and sat and did them most of the weekend. Keep the quit :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 85 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,700 Amount Saved: $552.50 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 2 Mins: 9 Seconds: 43
