No i was not their and i knew i blew my quit, But i know all the people their, and i was their with in 2 hours after it happened. I am not perfect by any means. Like i said in my other post tha "What if" question was going through my mind. I know that is no excuse.

Well done Shannon, the cigarette would have made you feel even worse. You managed to avoid it. That's really excellent.

Good for you Shannon getting right back to your quit! Everyone has off days but just remember non-smokers don't think of smoking. That helps me from slipping. Glad to see that you are better, N.O.P.E. ~Valic

Shannon: I have often joked that quitting smoking is a lot like schizophrenia...the good vs the bad/the quit vs the nicodemon...
I have been in law enforcement for about 20 years. Granted I have not been on the road for quite a few years, but I still employ the view of myself as two distinct persons. As soon as the badge goes on, I am in work mode. As soon as I take it off, I am wife, mother, friend...anything but a cop. In order to succeed, you MUST develop that concept---otherwise the stress will eat you alive. After leaving the road, I worked child sexual and severe physical abuse for 10 years. I asked for a transfer when I began being haunted by cases in my sleep and home life. Establish a healthy balance. Good luck and don't smoke---the answers are not in smoking!

Hi Shannon,
There will be many times you will need to "step over the garbage". Protecting your quit is NOT easy, but if someone causes you anger and you lose your temper, use your coping skills to work through it.
B R E A T H E ... deep breath in..... deep breath out. You're doing great, keep up the great quit!

Hi Shannon,
The problem is that lighting up doesn't make any difference in terms of feeling better. It does not reduce stress. It is a pointless, unhealthy addiction. And an expensive habit as well. You begin to feel uncomfortable withdrawal 20 minutes after you put the last one out so lighting another feels like stress reduction when really you are just feeding your addiction.
Once you grasp this concept it is much easier to cope with the crave. We were told alot of BS by the tobacco companies to keep us smoking. Have you read Allen Carr's book?
Stay close....read and post and don't smoke. It's not good for you.
NOPER,
Janet
