Thanks for the support Danielle. That seems like a good idea to chart it by time and make it seem more scientific so it's easier to track. Much appreciated! -SP

Strawberry poptart, Diva gave you some great advice. The trick is to really start small. Ex: Being alone in a room, moving to being alone in the house for 1 minute and extending the time as you progress. Having a plan on how you'll attempt to manage your anxiety may also be of great help to you. Many members have found thought challenging, distractions and relaxation exercises prior to exposure work helpful. Keep us posted. Danielle _____________________ The PC Support Team

Well after my relapse in december I thought this was a huge step too. It took a lot of courage to get started. But to me, the baby steps were in the length of time where the alone time was planned that was the key. Start with short periods of time where you are alone and say your safe person has their cell phone out just for a very short period of time. Then make that time longer and longer. Once you can do it for a short period of time a long period seems a lot less daunting. You can play with the degree of aloneness (yes I know I am inventing words lol) and with the length of time. By playing with both variables you should be able to find a first step that is not too scary and then you just work your way up from there :) Anyway, this is not the perfect solution but it is how I did it lol Hope it helps a little :) -Diva

I am at the point in the program where I have to plot out my exposure steps and I am having trouble. My problem is that I am afraid to be alone and it seems rather black and white, w/o any gray area. It's not like driving on the highway or flying in a plane where you can drive to the airport, walk around, stay there longer, fly with a friend, etc. Maybe it is, and I am blocking out the middle steps. It just seems too daunting. If I am with someone or even alone but know where someone (a safety person) is, I am fine. And if I don't know where someone is and I am alone it is freakout central. How do I make baby steps for this? Please help.
