Yoga!

I had begun attending yoga after suffering a severe back injury. There are many styles and many "certifications" of teachers, but from my own research, the IYENGAR yoga teachers undergo the most rigourous of training regimens to become certified. The stretching and release of tension is a remarkable adjunct to any anxiety treatment program

Hey there! I have done different types of yoga in the past. There are a few types, some for weight loss, some for conditioning, relaxation, etc. I also know that there are plenty of DVD's that offer different ability levels to follow. And from my experience it's absolutely wonderful. I feel energized, limber and relaxed beyond anything I've ever felt. And it's not as intense as jumping around like a fool. It's very centered and can be spiritual as well. Nice way to clear your head, stretch your muscles and center your awareness! A good 'instructor' to look for is Rodney Yee. Good luck!!!

Diva, I must have missed your post saying you wanted the name of the yoga DVD that I use. It's called YOGA Conditioning for WEIGHT LOSS by Gaiam. It has four workout levels with beginner's modifications. If I were you I would just start at the lowest level and work my way up as you become more flexible and stronger. I hope this helps. Let me know if you get it and what you think. ~Isabella~

Had other questions about yoga. What kind of yoga do you do? How many kinds of yogas are there ( if more then one)? Are they all very different? How do i choose one? And where or how is a good way to start? Thanks again! -Diva!

Diva, Yoga is a great activity. More of our members should be along soon to share their experience. To my knowledge, some centers offer yoga classes for those with back problems. Danielle ________________________ The PC Support Team

I would most defenitely love the name of that yoga DVD you are talking about. I am looking for an exercise that is smooth and relaxing and that will help me get back in shape without freaking me out. Thanks so much for talking to me about this. I really do think i will give this a try. So if you can give me that name of the Dvd somehow without getting yourself in trouble i would surely appreciate it^^ -Diva :)

Diva, I started doing yoga about a year ago and have found it to be very calming and relaxing. The first time I did it I found it to be hard because of the stretches and poses but I kept at it and the poses became easier and I have been able to stretch further. I never broke a sweat either and I found that to be nice because I am afraid to sweat LOL because it reminds me of a panic attack and the time I went into shock and my blood pressure dropped. Not only that, but for the first week and each time I went up to the next level, I became sore from working a whole lot of muscles I never knew I had, which was a nice feeling. I am by no means an expert or even that advanced but I started doing yoga when my anxiety and insomnia were at its worse and it helped with proper breathing techniques and relaxing me enough to be able to go to sleep. I find it to be very soothing so you should give it a shot. I know we can't promote products on here but if you want the name of the DVD I started using just let me know. It has different women to follow for your level of fitness which I found to be very helpful. ~Isabella~

What i really wanted to know is does anybody here do yoga? And i wanted to know if you do do yoga is it hard? And if so how hard? If i have a back problem can i still do it? Does it make you feel better? Does it help your anxiety? Reason i am asking is i have been thinking of yoga for a source of exercise in my life and i just want to know what i would be getting myself into and if it would help. Anyway for those of you who do yoga and ansewer me thanks in advance. And if none of you do yoga well i guess i will go find myself some pamphlets hahahaha. -Sincerely, Diva.
