It really helps for them to be supportive. But they will never fully understand what we are going through and this is what causes us to argue sometimes. This makes my anxiety worse. I just want him to just understand that this is not easy. He knows. But he is not perfect......so i know its normal for him to get frustrated too. I just wish i can be the best girlfriend to him.....i want to do everything for him.....but i feel limited cause of my FEARS of going out. Its good to know that u can relate to me! Dont worry, we just have to stay strong and confident. On that note, we are going out tonight for dinner....PLZ PRAY FOR ME :8o:

Hi all: I am so glad to find people whose husbands are supportive, but frustrated. Mine is very good about it, but every time he even thinks out loud about going or doing, I start to freak. I want to go anywhere so bad that I get mad at myself. It is very exhausting. Okay, let's go...oh, no I feel weird again... here it comes... let's go home, i can't do it... I feel so dysfunctional... what is wrong with me... I just want to be normal again and have some fun. This is the cycle I go through on a normal basis, and fortunately my husband seems to understand. However, I wonder if his willingness to get me home is somehow "enabling" me. Sometimes he does say "I think you can make it, let's try." Depending on the situation, I either will or won't. Glad to hear other people. Kari

Hi Guys! I didn't die or faint!! I had very strong symptoms on the way (nausea, sweating, heart pounding, lightheaded, tingly & very uncomfortable) & I just focused on breathing & thinking about something else, which did calm me down somewhat. ... then of course the show locked us in a small room & sent us on a ghost train to our seats - that sent my pulse racing again & I thought I was going to die - then I started to breath again (hard to meditate in those surroundings!!) & I fought with myself to challenge what I was thinking, arguing with myself & after about 45 minutes of the show starting; I noticed that I did not feel the physical symptoms anywhere near as strong. I had a great night, I was so proud! It can be controlled, I am a long way off I know but this is such a positive feeling, a light at the end of the tunnel. It is only just morning here - we must be on different time zones. Are you on the CBT therapy?

Hi Toni! I hope I catch you before you leave for dinner. Ok, you just started week one, good for you! Actually, week one is one of my favorite weeks cause you learn so much about anxiety/panic!! I dont' want you to jump ahead with my advice. But what i suggest is that this is just anxiety!! This happens to me all the time before i go out. My mind constantly is working about how i will feel in that situation etc. So, i suggest, you just go to a quiet place in your house. Away from phones, clocks, kids etc. Put on some soft music, and meditate for a little. Just close your eyes (either sitting comfortably or laying down) and just concetrate on ONE thing. IN yoga, they teach me to concentrate on your breathing.....when you inhale your belly should go out (like a balloon), and when you exhale your belly should go back in. Dont force the breathing, just let it be effortless. Now, you find your mind wondering around negative thoughts.......stop yourself and come back to the focussing on one thing (breathing, for example). This will help you clear your mind. When you inhale, you can also imagine inhaling a bright source of positive energy from the sun or star. This engergy will take away all of your sypmtoms and help you calm down! The energy is ur friend! Ok, i didn't realize how long i jsut typed lol. But one more thing. Try to challenge your thoughts. Stop them before they continue. Just tell yourself "This is just anxiety, its just another anxious thuoght like before, it cannot harm me, i cannot faint, its just anxiety" I hope i have helped. I hope you have a wonderful time at the dinner. U can have fun with that positive energy i told you about! Take it with you to dinner and let it make you feel great! just try! i hope you have fun. let me know how you feel hun. :)

Thank you all so much! It is such a relief to know you are here - a quick piece of advice? ... I am going out for dinner & a show tonight, I feel sick, I am having trouble breathing & I feel lightheaded. I have only just started session one of the 12 step programme so I do not know how to control what I am feeling, I know it is panic but I have eight hours to go before I even get there! I am not allowed to cancel (I even asked the babysitter to lie & say she couldn't watch the kids). How do I get through this??

Tony, hang in there girl. we all know what you are going through. my husband also gets frustrated because he doesn't seem to understand. I don't blame him though. I found this site about a week ago and it has made such an impact on me. I felt so alone in this fight against anxiety. until I realized there are so many people going through the same thing as me. I am now not ashamed of how I've been feeling. I've actually contacted my community mental health coordinator and they are setting me up with the councelling that I need. I've lived with this for 3 years now and I am ready to fight it. Hang in there just knowing that you found this support is a sighn that your ready to fight this too. hang in there. we are here to supportyou. hope to see you post again.
