Thank you Allison I try and do all these things and I am trying to boost his self-esteem and build him up. I will go to school and talk with the principal if it continues, I know its part of growing up and I cannot fight all his battles but its heartbreaking just the same. That is why I feel I must get better quickly to be there for him. I had an attack about an hour ago, 30 minutes of shaking then crying when I come down, I know you know that feeling Allison, I am just glad these panics happen usually when he is at school and he does not have to see them. I was going to ask you a question, did you ever or anyone you know ever try Lucinda Bassets program?? Its alot of money, the medicine does not seem to be helping and I must get a handle on this, do you think it would help?? When I listened to her free tape it seemed to help me and give me some hope. I just do not want to spend money I do not have if it does not work, I just wondered if anyone ever used it with success. I hope you enjoyed your evening out I hope you had a good time. I am going to try to cut down on coffee again and see if that helps. Please let me know how you are doing ALllison and thank you so much for your concern for my son. God bless, Debbie.
Hello, sorry to hear about your son's bad experiences at school these days. These things are so heartbreaking.
A few ideas:
-role play with him at home about how to react at school. Help build his confidence to handle these situations.
-talk to his teacher, if you don't feel like the teacher is dealing with the situation, talk to the principal.
- do everything you can to help your son meet friends. Is there anyone else with similar special needs? You could arrange some social occasions for your son. For example; after school, a movie night, over for pizza ideas.
- go to the local library to find books at his age level, fiction and non fiction that deals with bullying situations. (Library clerks are always willing to help find what you are looking for!)
- talk to your son about his feelings, assure him you are there for him.
We need to pray about problems for wisdom and strength and then we need to take action with what God has given us. You can take charge of this! Let us know how your son is doing! I wish you all the best!
