Flushed and scared - please help

Well, I'm a little red now - nothing like last week. But I spent about a half hour on the phone with my parents, and then related the experience to my husband. Got short of breath talking to him about it and then realized I was really warm again. A little red on my neck and chest now too. Must be related to the anxiety (my folks really stress me out - they are so negative about everything - nothing good in life, nothing good in the news. Always ready to point out the bad possibilities in something that seems like a good thing). Of course I have to go to work tomorrow morning too, and by Sunday night I'm always REALLY irritable and anxious over that. still though - I'm still freaking out over it - of course now about the shortness of breath too... Will there EVER be a time that I'm NOT worried about some serious health condition?

Thanks all! I haven't changed laundry detergent - have to use hypoallergenic soap already since my skin is sensitive. Haven't changed my diet at all. It's funny, 'cos I haven't had the flushing since Friday afternoon at work. That's why I'm wondering if it's anxiety related - haven't had any experiences since leaving work Friday. Maybe I'm allergic to work! HA! It is the biggest source of my stress after all. Any thoughts? The only other difference is that my office is really warm - but honestly, I'M really warm these days too - usually we keep our house temp at 79 degrees, but these days it's at 77 and I'm still warm. I have been PMS'ing - but never experienced this kind of thing before. We'll see what happens tomorrow at work. Any more thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks again!

Hey NS! Have you changed your detergent lately? Sometimes when you change a soap or a laundry detergent you can get an allergic reaction to it. I agree with the other post though. Keep track of what you're eating and drinking the next few days and write down what kind of soaps and cosmetics you use as well. If it keeps up, go to the doctor, take your list with you and they will figure it out and get you the help you need to make it stop.

It sounds like it might be a food allergy, or an allergy to soap, make up (if you're female) or a hundred other things. I can tell you right now though, if all you have is flushing, you will not go into allergic shock over it. I had this happen to me back in college. I was flushed and kind of warm feeling. I went to the doctor, and got some steroids, it went away in about 2 days. I would write down everything you've drank, eaten, or put on your body (soap, shampoo, make up, etc) and go to the doctor so they can figure out what you're allergic to so it won't happen again. You won't die from it though, I promise. I had a reaction like that, and I'm still here!

For the last few days at work I've been getting flushed in the afternoons. My office is kind of warm, so I didn't even notice until someone told me that it looked like I had a little sunburn on my chest. I went to the bathroom and lifted up my shirt to see that my arms and torso were a little red as well. So now I'm freaking out. This was three days ago. I had taken a few ibuprofen for a headache and thought I was having a reaction to the ibuprofen. Stopped taking it but have still had the flushing in the afternoons for the last two days. I spoke with a guy at work who is a naturopath. He told me that I'm having a histamine reaction and that I must have food allergies. But at the same time, my office is warm and of course, I do have anxiety and panic attacks occasionally. He said the temperature of my office had nothing to do with it - it was food allergies. Now though I'm worried that he's right and that I'm going to have some sort of anaphylactic reaction to something. I'm also worried that I have some other disease - something else that causes flushing. Seems like such a silly thing to go see my doctor about - plus our healthcare plan at work just changed so now I need to see a whole new doctor. You know most docs - you get 15 minutes for a new patient visit - hardly any time to explain any situation or past history, much less have them alleviate any fears about something like this. Has anyone else experienced this sort of symptom associated with anxiety or panic attacks??? I've been hoping it's just that but then have been real fortunate for the last week and haven't had any big attacks. This is a new symptom for me - I'm freaking out. Is it just something associated with anxiety? Please let me know if anyone else has had this. It's just a light redness to my arms, chest and back. Not on my face - not itchy or anything.
