Sick of Worrying....

Hi! I have the heart flutters too, i have had them on and off for many years were they last for days, i put this down to the way i think about them and the way i feel. If i think about them you can be sure i'll have a huge scary flutter, but sometimes out of the blue i will experence them, i find if i except the palpatation and it not being life thretening then the anxiety it causes isn't as great and dos'nt create the palpatations vicious circle. Its because you are aware of the flutters you continue to focus on your heart rythm, like waiting for the missed or heavy thud in the chest. I only know by experiencing this for 25yrs, now i only have the odd flutter months free of them, one thing i do when i get a flutter is to go with it and calm my breathing down and breath slowly out a couple of times. Remember they won't hurt you and in time you will over come them. GoodLuck :)

I just found out that i'm pregnant, and have had the heart flutters every day, from the minute i wake up until i finally go to sleep. it's terrible. and i know how you feel - hopeless. my doctor prescribed low doses of xanax throughout the day, and started me on zoloft. it's worked tremendously. and hopefully, when the zoloft kicks in, i won't need the xanax. hang in there, though. it will pass. it's scary, but it gets better...

I've just recently started having the frequent palpitations, I've had them before, but not for days in a row like this. I have had episodes of tachycardia, but not recently. I was told about 4 years ago that I was borderline hyperthyroidism, but nothing has turned up in my recent bloodwork. I wish sometimes that it was my thyroid instead of my heart. I do have alot of the symptoms though of hyperthyroidism, but who knows...thanks for your reply. I have read that the palps are common during pregnancy, but they still scare me and are so annoying.

Hi, I was just wondering if you have had these heart flutters for a long time, or if it something new. I had heart palps so bad that it felt like my heart would stop beating then start again. I put up with this for about 2 years( EKGs, everything normal), till my doctor tested my thyroid level and found out that I have hypothyroidism. After being treated for this, I developed High blood pressure which caused the flutters to come back. I am not saying this could be the case for you, but maybe you could talk to your doc about checking your levels. I wish that there was more that I could say to you, but I know how hard panic is and with you carrying a little one, I could only imagine how upsetting it is for you. Hang in there hun.. Take Care Fae

Hey everyone. Just had a really bad day today and need to vent. I woke up this morning with more palpitations (fluttering heart), I wake up 4 or 5 times a night in fear, worrying that I will just fall over dead one day from these flutters, they scare the heck out of me. I went to work still feeling them, finally had to leave and come home b/c I couldn't shake it off. I'm okay now after some rest, but I'm just so sick of worrying ALL the time. I am 5 months pregnant which makes the worrying even that much more, even though I've been told that the palps are normal and not life threatening, I still worry. Its hard when no one around you knows quite what its like to feel that nagging fear every single day-it never goes away...its always right there, and I just can't seem to get rid of it... Some days are better than others, but days like this its just like its hopeless. I have a wonderful husband, a really good job and great family, I have alot to be thankful for and not a whole lot to be so stressed out about but I can't even really explain it. I'm just tired of the constant worry-half the time about nothing. My thoughts are so jumbled up sometimes - sorry if this doesnt' make much sense. If there is anyone else here dealing with this, please reply. It helps so much to know that I"m not alone in this. Also if there is anyone else that deals with the heart flutters, I'd like to hear from you to. Thanks
