Hi Alison, what a great idea sharing our most embarrasing phobic moments! It's important to keep a sense of humour even in the most difficult times...
I couldn't believe when I read your blue legs story - I did exactly the same thing - with black jeans!!!
Also, while on business in Ottawa (capital city of Canada) about 3 years ago, and after a long leisurely walk I went into a business meeting and realized my right thigh was burning hot - I mean it was super hot to the touch, just in one area. I was TOTALLY FREAKED - definitely a blod clot, nothing else would make a hot spot like that on your leg right? Well, after freaking internally for an hour or so, I realized I'd been wearing a long strapped purse over my shoulder on the walk, and it hung right at that spot - it had been rubbing on my thigh for the whole walk and had made the hot spot.
I can only share this because no one knows who I am, but if you need a laugh you'll enjoy this:
Bought a new pair of jeans, wore them all day, was taking a bath at night, my legs were very blue (didn't connect it at first), FREAKED OUT, thought I had some major circulation problems, went on the internet, almost made my husband take me to hospital, then realized it was the jeans.
Back in my teenage years I just kissed a guy from Brazil. Found out the Brazil had one of the highest AIDS population. Convinced I had AIDS, eventually went for an AIDS test. Guess what, I was okay!
