Hi Vickers4, How are you feeling? My doctor gave me iron pills to battle anemia -- as I am a vegetarian and it helps, but now I am not taking them and my periods are also all over the place...Have you gone to the doctor? Take care, B

The female body, jeez. Trust me, I know!!! What they want to do is probably an endometrial biopsy, which is a bit uncomfortable but tolerable. You will just have slight cramping. Easy, I promise. I worked at the OBGYN office and have assisted the procedure many times. Take a couple advils before you go. They just take the a sample of the lining of the uterus to check. I am sure you will be fine. Depending on your age, they may want you on the pill or something to regulate the periods. That must be a pain though, all that bleeding. My mother in law has the worst anemia from irregular periods. So bad that she actually got iron injections. Hope you are doing better. Take care.

Dear Vickers, I am glad I helped you, you have has such compassion and wisdom for me and others in the past. The blood loss since Jan is probably causing the anemia, I never knew you had been having this since Jan, your symptoms do sound like anemia, I know what you mean about going on the internet, I do that and always regret it, it can be scary and most of the time has nothing to do with whats wrong with us! I hope the DOc can give you some iron pills, that should solve the problem quickly, as I told you my Mother-in-law could barely breathe and was white as a ghost, and after a few days was so much better. They may want to do a D@C, I know when I had one several years ago after my miscarriage, my periods were light for 10 years and hardly any cramping {Maybe I should have another one} the D@C did not hurt and I was alright in a few days, have a big fat juicy med-rare steak, and eat some raisins, they are supposed to be high in iron, and get alot of rest, that is what is probably causing the tiredness and dizziness, the low iron, and its very very treatable. Please let me know how you are. I am praying for you. God bless, Debbie.

Thanks you guys! I am feeling much better now that I've heard your stories and see that it's not as serious as it sounds. I have my appointment with the OB/GYN Thursday so we will see how that goes. :8o: I wish it was today so I could just get it over with! The anticipation always gets to me! I think what I'll do is eat lots of iron rich things until then so I can get a jump start on this and start feeling better. Being who I am, I got on the internet to see what I could find out about it and of course everything I found was worst case scenario - heart failure, kidney failure, liver failure, etc.... You'd think I'd learn not to Google every symtpom I have by now - Crimeny! Thanks so much for your own experiences and advice. I am feeling less freaked about it. I always have the worst time getting bad news of any sort when it comes to my health or my boys health. No matter how non serious it is - thank God it's never been anything serious yet! Even though the panic makes it feel serious. Sigh.... Thanks again for everything you guys! If I could, I would give you all a huge hug!! Thanks for the info Debbie - I knew you would understand all too well what I'm going through! I'll let you all know how it goes when I find out. Any prayers would be appreciated! :)

Dear Vickers, I just logged on, I totally relate. I think the word "biopsy" should NOT have been used. Both my Mother and Mother-in-law were anemic, my Mom had iron-blood treatments and my Mom-in-law went on iron pills. I know we talked about this and you were a tremendous comfort to me, I started eating steak, bran, red meat and I felt better, my mom-in-law had the same "pale-eyelids" you described, her Doc gave her iron pills and within a week she was feeling better, it could be perimenopause, or even a fibroid, iron pills, high-iron diet or even a D@C should be considered, but a biopsy I do not think! These Doctors! they should start small and not think of the worst {been there done that with Doctors!!} PLease do not worry Vickers {I know easier said than done} I really think this problem can be resolved by medication or a minor D@C, I have read so much about this and studied it, my last monthly was light so I fully expect a big one this month. Anemia is very treatable, my Mom-in-law was really bad, totally white, weak, pale, short of breath, etc...The iron pills kicked in and she was fine and she was 70 years old. I noticed since I am eating more, I feel better, my starving and dieting depleted me, both physically and emotionally, I gained a few pounds, but I am made up my mind, better a little chubby and thin and sick! Please eat a big fat juicy steak or Liver and onions {I know YUCK!} with onions and kechup its tolerable, try this before a biopsy is even considered, my Mom-in law was SO very bad at that old age and the iron pills were a miracle, she was great within a week. Please let me know how you are, I know you are scared, I get scared so much, today I am hoarse and I am thinking "Oh God lung cancer or throat cancer" because I smoke, last month it was a blood clot and before that ectopic preg or ovarian cancer! I am such a hypo! Please write back and let me know how you are feeling, eat lots of iron {raisins are great} I am praying for you and I both Vickers, God bless, Debbie.

Hi Vickers 4, My mom and my sister are anemic. As was mentioned earlier on another thread, I may be too. I need to have that checked next time I go in. Was able to move my appointemnt up from next month to next week. Thankgoodness cause its been since 96 since I've had a checkup. I have had bloodwork done but never let the Dr examine me(major panic). My sister had that problem with her period and it was something minor. Can't remember what it was cause we did not talk about it to much(A guy thing I'm sure). :blush:Or could it be a panic thing. Hmmm makes me wonder. But I am sure you will get to the bottom of it, or your ob/gyn will. Anemia is not that bad to live with, my sister just takes iron now. My mom had to go in every few months and have a shot of something for a while. Wish I could ask her but she passed away years back. Hope you have an appointment soon. I know those can be worrysome. I had just had some bloodwork done just before labor day.I was suppose to get my results back before the weekend. Course I called the lab that friday after having anxiety all week long and the results were not ready. I had to wait till tuesday. What 10 day stretch that was. I was in panic the whole time. I wish I had found this site before then. I know I would be ok now with a place to talk about it,and working my breathing. Keeps us informed. Jimbo

Hi, Well, my mum has anemia. Me too in a milder form. She has to take an iron supplement, she also needs a good 8 hours of sleep a night. Apart from the Iron supplement and a good nights sleep there aren t any problems. I get cold alot, even in this warm weather my feet are cold but Im ok with it. My mum has had the condition since birth and is fine. As for the periods, the doctors will sort that out. Hope this helps a little! Chardthefish

I'm sure Debbie will relate to this post because I've talked to her about this a few times when she was having this problem. ;p Quite frankly, I'm feeling stupid posting this because I've talked to people about this when they were having problems and now here I am with the same thing. It's funny how you can be supportive and logical about something when someone else has the problem, but when it comes to you, it freaks you out anyway! GEEZ Anyways, I'm having a problem. I've always had really funky periods so I wasn't really worried about this new problem I've been having since about January. It's always changing, so I just figured well, here I go again. I've been having pretty much a nonstop period since about January. Some days it's just a little bit and other days it's full blown. (Sorry guys) But, it's pretty much every day. I've been having lots of dizzy spells, muscle weakness and fatigue. Big deal - I've always felt this way because of the panic and anxiety. Well, I mentioned it to my doctor a couple days ago and he looked under my eyes and told me that my eyelids were pale - instant panic attack! So, he took some blood tests and called me back yesterday and told me that I am anemic and wants me to go to an OB/GYN for a biopsy! I'm a little freaked out! What if something is wrong with the biopsy? How serious is anemia?! I just don't know what to do....
