My appointment

I have heard on doctors putting women with a history of depression on zoloft the last month of pregnancy to prevent post partum depression. I think I will ask about that. It just seemed strange that he was more concerned with a little sneezing then he was with my mental health. I do see 4 doctors though. Hopefully, one of them will care!!! My seasonal allergies happen in the spring and fall. I just get sneezy and my nose and eyes itch. I livein Cincinnati and allergies are at the worst around here. I have heard of people developing them later in life, especially if you moved to a new area.

What are your symptoms of seasonal allergies? I sometimes wonder if I have them, but I would have all the sudden developed them, as I have never had them before. Is that possible at 32? I think thats terrible that your OB blew off your depression/anxiety. If someone hasn't been exposed to it before, either themselves or by someone close to them, they just don't understand. They act like we can put it "on hold" until we are done being pregnant, or done with *whatever* it is that should be "more important right now". Know what I mean??? AP

I find it highly strange. If you have a history of depression, he should be very concerned and watch you closely for signs of post-pardum depression after your delivery. You might want to find a female OB/GYN that has children and may understand post-pardum depression firsthand. The first six weeks after having a child are (at least from this male's perspective) the hardest on everyone. As I understand it, it's hard to see p-p depression in yourself, so if you have people around you (spouse/mate/etc., doctors, and so forth) that know what to look for, they can save you from having to go through a rather miserable experience and instead enjoy (as much as any sleep-deprived human can!) the first weeks with your new child. Warmest~

Yesterday I had a prenatal appointment. It was a long one, they went over my history and family history to figure out if there are any birth defects floating around the family. Anyway, I don't have many health problems myself, or in the family, except for seasonal allergies and the anxiety and depression. I told the nurse that I was on zoloft and stopped. She was the one who asked the questions. Then, the doc review the info and came in and talked to me. He did not say one single thing about the anxiety/depression. Like how I was doing off the meds. NOTHING!!!! But he was very concerned about the stupid seasonal allergies. I mean, they bother me, but they are nothing compared to the anxiety! DOes anyone think that is strange? That he didn't say one thing about the anxiety?
