I know I will not sleep tonight. Do you ever have a stressful day or for whatever reason, you know you aren't going to sleep that night?

I often find myself wide awake at 4:30 in the morning, having never gone to sleep at all. I take Xanax and Lexapro, and have even taken extra Xanax to try to go to sleep, but my body just won't cooperate. And taking the extra Xanax is definitely not a good idea, because it just makes you want to take more and more. There are several sleep meds out now that might help you. The Xanax just doesn't seem to stay in your system for very long. I have tried Trazadone and Seroquel, which both work pretty good for me, but make me feel kinda groggy the next day. Talk to your doctor about something for sleep besides the Xanax. And I too often have the thought that I'm "not right" because I'm awake nearly all night, while other people are sleeping.

Khris, this won't be long. You're not the only person up so don't feel such a freak! I'm wide awake as I am on 4th day of getting off Cymbalta and sleep is elusive, not to mention v. unpleasant side effects. Next on the list is 20 years of Klonopin but not cold turkey. I learned that from Ativan and you take Xanax, about the same. Bad stuff. Never told they were additive, 7 years on Ativan complete with hallucinations at the end. Xanax leaves your body so fast so you go right into withdrawal 6 or 8 hours. Klonopin at least has the decency to stay in for a good number of hours and you don't feel effects. I feel bad for you it's so scary. I hope you have an animal. Mine are all sound asleep. I'm going back to bed and just lie there quietly and see what happens. I was looking for Cymbalta (anti-d) and Klonopin and came across this site on Panic (which I have and anxiety since late teens) when there was Nothing for it but a "oh pull yourself together". Nothing bad will happen to you tonight, you'll be in your home and the sun will soon be up. We've all gone a night without sleep when we used to go to all night parties. Maybe you need something longer lasting than Xanax so you could ask. Know that someone knows about you and I shall think good thoughts that you will have a peaceful sleep. Goodnight Khris.

I went off into a deep sleep about 10:30pm and now it is 3:am and I am WIDE awake. I woke up with anxiety and took a Xanax before it turned into a middle of the night panic attack. Now I can not go back to sleep and these late nights are when my thoughts really start to spin. I am actually sitting here thinking, "On my entire street, I bet I am the only person awake right now.." Okay, duh! It is 3:am, most normal functioning people are asleep!!!! I hate how I can actually freak myself out by just thinking. :8o:
