Hi Ruby, I know valium is an older drug, Xanax is newer. I dont know if one is better than the other, Xanax enters and leaves the body very quickly where I believe Valium lasts longer. I take Klonopin and I really think its helped, it lasts awhile and calms me down, I also have taken Lorazapam and that was good too, Xanax did not work too well for me, it wore off too quickly and the anxiety would return, but is up to you, they are both benzo's and work pretty much the same, you could try Klonopin or Lorazapam. How is your Mother doing??
