Although my husband does not understand my anxiety and fears....my mother has been great help...today I emailed her some information from this website....she truly is amazing...and I know I have her...but it really hurts when my husband can get annoyed at me for silly little things that I forget....he forgets the big picture...and sometimes when he gets mad or annoyed I start shaking and am unable to concentrate....I guess I just need to get this off my chest...and it's not helping as I have my final exams at law school and want to do well as it is my final year....but am so tired...aside from psychological symptoms, the physical ones have been difficult...I am tired all the time and feel like NOTHING is working for me...whatever I do is NEVER enough....just so tired

Thank you...I have told him about this program but have not actually had him read any of the information...it seems as though he is not interested in what is going on with me...and thinks I make excuses....if only he knew...he hasn't read any of the information on medications or the email link from the Support Centre either, but I will print the information and sit with him and hopefully he will understand...I will let you know how it goes....

My husband also has a hard time understanding this. He would get frustrated and tell me things like, you're just doing this to yourself! When I found this site, I printed out info from the Panic Program and had him sit down and read the introduction and some of Week One and I told him, this is what I am going through and even though I know you can't understand this because you don't go through this yourself, all I ask is that you give me some time alone so I can deal with this and support when I need a moment. I also told him that if he can't understand then to please just pretend to because it only makes it worse when he tries to motivate me to "just get over it." Be as open and honest with him / her as possible. They get frustrated because they don't understand and that frustration turns into anger towards you. Try to help him / her understand. Start the Panic Program (it is free) and share the info with him / her so he / she will have at least a better idea of what you're dealing with.

Boy, this is a tough one. Maybe you could get him to read some of the postings on this site (or print some of the postings off if it makes you feel more comfortable). How wonderful would it be if we could just "snap out of it?" Oh well, keep trying with your husband & good luck to you.

He will not go with me to the doctor's office and is not keen on counselling as my doctor has already suggested it...I have asked him numerous times to read about the medications I am on, but he hasn't...He once said that I was using my anxiety/fears as an excuse...and that really hurts...I just wish he would understand...

You force him to go to the doctor with you so that he/she can explain it and they can get a clear image of WHAT you are dealing and living with. I think Counseling for couples is a HUGE benefit because just as we are living it, so are they...just in a different way.

What do you do when your spouse does not understand what you are going through, the effects of medication and why you can't 'just snap out of it'? I feel so lonely...and I have been on medications some time now but I have been feeling more and more anxious and depressed than ever before....
