Zoloft Need Help Please

for 19 år siden 0 367 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
The second time I started zoloft, I started with out talking to my doc. I mean, I knew he would put me on it but I had to wait for an appt. I had some left from last time so I started taking it. I forgot to start slow and just started at 50 mg. Big mistake. I felt pretty bad for a couple days, awful insomnia and nauseated. But it went away. I agree with Rachel, if you don't like it tell your doc. Every med is different to each person. My sister suffered depression and was on about 5 meds before she finally found one to work. Sounds awful but you gotta keep trying.

Hi Becky, I have been on and off Zoloft for about one and half years -- however since October 2004 I have been taking it everyday and the dosage has increased from 50g to 200g a day. The side effects I feel include some nausea, upset stomach and definitely a decreased libido...but I am happy to be on Zoloft as I tried a few others (Effexor, Celexa...) but they did not work as well as Zoloft. Good luck!

I am trying to bite the bullet and get up the nerve to take it this weekend. I think I am going to start with the 12.5 mgs. My quality of life is not good right now, between the anxiety and depression. I wouldn't know what it's like to feel happiness again. I wish I wasn't so afraid of medication, it really makes it hard. Thanks for the posts and I look forward from hearing from anyone else. It helps to read the posts of good experiences with Zoloft, it gives me hope. Thank you Becky

Also, I want to mention--try the Zoloft for awhile but if it doesn't work, try something else. It is worth the effort to start to feel normal again. Try this Panic Program on this site also. It can be very helpful.

I have been on Zoloft for about 6 months now. It has helped incredibly. The only side effect I had was some mild nasuea when I first started it and each time I increased my dose. It was just enough to keep my appetite down but not near as bad as when I was pregnant with my kiddos. I also was very nervous about taking it and actually was told to start off at 50 mg. That was too strong to start with. I started with 25 mg and currently take 75mg per day. 100 mg was too strong. Each person is different but starting at 12.5 is pretty low and a good point to start IMO. However, I bet your dr. wouldn't mind if you started a little lower (but I'm not a dr. so don't take this as medical advice.) I'm so glad I decided to take the step and take the Zoloft. My panic attacks decreased greatly. Now I have maybe one per month. I take .5mg of Clonazepam (Klonopin) and start to feel better within 15-20 minutes (I just had to take one a few minutes ago.) I was waking up with them almost every night for awhile. It's a relief not to have that happen.

I am a huge supporter of zoloft! I liked it and thought it helped me alot. I started on 25 mg. It made me nauseated at first. I lost a lot of weight cuz my appetite was not big but it will work!!! You really have to give these meds a chance to work. It will start to help at first but it really takes almost 6 weeks for it to take full effect. I am not currently on it because I am pregnant. But I can answer any questions you have on it. Also, zoloft is pretty easy to come off of.

Hi Becky, I was on Zoloft and Klonopin for my panic attacks / anxiety for about a month and a half. The klonopin made me really drowsy all the time and was hard to week off of. The Zoloft however gave me really bad diarreah for almost three weeks so my doctor had to take me off of it. I did however notice a little reduction in my anxiety but that could also be just because I knew medicine was in my system. There are many good websites to go to where you can learn about the benefits and side effects of Zoloft. Try the manufacturer's website. Good luck. Bill

Hi Becky, Fellow members will be responding soon, but I just wanted to suggest that if you are considering altering your dose, please be sure to discuss this option with your doctor. Casey _______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Hi everyone, I just ran accross this message board, and I am hoping and praying for some help. Lately my anxiety has been sky high and I am suffering from depression also. I did start therapy two weeks ago, which may be making my anxiety worse in the beginning. My doctor gave me Zoloft over a month ago, she told me to start with 12.5, she said the side effects wouldn't be as bad. I know realistically I should give the medicine a try. I have read good and bad things about Zoloft, but the bad stand out more than the good. I even thought about breaking the 12.5 in half and starting it. I don't know what to do. I have a fear of meds, which makes it 100 times more harder for me. I would appreciate any input, I just can't be rational about this, I am freaking out. My head hurts, even burns some, I don't know if this is from anxiety or what. I am just so stressed and overwhelmed. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it right now. Thank you in advance. Becky
