Mornings

Mornings where especially hard for me too.  I always got up and smoked first thing, while waiting for coffee.  I really didn't change my routine.  I know everyone is different, but i tried to keep my routine the same as before just without smoking! Made it easier for me.

I remember lighting up while sitting on the side of the bed, smoking one or two before stumbling out for coffee and another one or two. One immediately after the shower, one while getting dressed  and putting on makeup. Another one or two while driving to work. So, yes, mornings were very hard for me when I quit.

But it helped to:
* Stand up immediately
* Drink some water right away
* Get in the shower right away

A few days of that broke that cycle of morning habit.  I think we have to completely change the routines in order to break those cycles.

Before I quit smoking, first thing in the morning I would make a pot of coffee and half an hour later I would go outside to the garage and have my first cigarette of the day.  Now that I quit, I still make a pot of coffee but I go  the computer room  and check out facebook and then  The stop smoking centre, it keeps me buzy  and I still enjoy my cup of coffee.

Members,

Facing the morning without smoking can be terrifying! After a nights sleeps the nicotine level in the blood stream drops to an all time low and the body wants a boost right away. Avoiding this first cigarette is tough, before you go to sleep, make a list of things you need to avoid in the morning that will make you want to smoke. Place this list where you used to place your cigarettes.

What's on your list?
