Go get the book by Allen Carr The Easy Way to quit smoking( I recommeded it before) you can probably rent it from the local library.  Just remember if you have one you sink right back into that nasty addiction.  Just walk away or listen and take deep breathes!

Yes, this is potentially a problem for me.  I deal with a lot of conflict in the workplace, and sometimes with some challenging people situations.  I need to figure out a way to tell myself that having a cigarette will not help me feel better when I have my first “big stressful workplace event”

Members,

Many people smoke because they believe it helps them cope with stress. If this sounds like you, you'll need to learn how to handle stress without nicotine and tobacco.

Stress is a normal part of everyone's life and there are healthy ways of dealing with it. You can join a support group, or plan to quit at the same time as a friend so you can help each other through the rough spots. You can change or avoid the sources of stress. You can change the way that you respond to stress and you can learn to relax by listening to soft music, having a nice hot bath or shower, going for a brisk walk, reading a good book, or practicing relaxation exercises.
How do I respond to stress now – should I change how I respond?

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you just can't change the source of your stress. You have to accept that you cannot change what other people do or say to you. All you can really do is change what you do, what you say and how you feel in response.

Don't give control of your emotions to another person. Tell yourself there's no reason why someone else's behavior should ruin your day. You can also attempt to change what a high stress situation means to you. If you have a big assignment coming up, avoid thinking that your entire career or self worth depends on how well you do. Your life is very seldom changed in a single instant. Do your best, and remind yourself that there will always be more opportunities in the future. Don't expect perfection.

You can learn other ways to relax as you learn to live without smoking or chewing. There are two breathing techniques found in your “My Program” tab

Is stress a big trigger for you?
