Bob is right, get rid of your smokes, lighters, etc.  You are not going to beat it if you have those around, the smokers mind is going to use any excuse to light up.  I used gum in the car, kept my mouth busy.

aminee......you really need to get rid of the smokes, lighters matches...."etc".  Keeping them near is a recipe for losing your Quit.
Get a ride to work.....with a non-smoker for a few days.
Your credo for Quitting has to be "I'll Do Whatever it Takes"......And it isn't always fun or what you want.

This will be one of the hardest BUT most rewarding things you will ever do in your life.  The first weeks are hard but it does get better.
Remember how you felt when you told us you were coming back and had a new plan and desire to Quit??  Get mad like you were then.  Make this your Quit like you said you wanted!!

Hi aminee, sell the car & get a motorcycle, Ya can't smoke on a motorbike + think of all that fresh air & freedom !

I ditched my old smokers car cos it was boring as hell to drive & reeked of stale cigarettes. Got my motorcycle licence, bought a sportscar (which didn't reek of stale cigarettes) & an awesome motorbike for the kiwi's to cruise. Now i actually enjoy driving.

I found i smoked alot in the car cos i was bored... not so now !

Another option is to take different routes to the same places you usually go, break the routine + you'll see some different scenery along the way. It all helps to distract in the early stages.

PB, thats funny I use the mini-flossers in the car too!... They work!  Another thing that really helps me is blowing bubbles with my gum, the bigger the bubble the better.  The straw thing did not work for me, I found myself longing for "the real thing".  Taking exaggerated breaths as if I were smoking clears my head and keeps me centered and more relaxed.

I keep some of those flossers in the car, so not only do I have something to knaw on, but my dentist is very happy with me too!! Rid yourself of the cigarettes, as long as they are around, you will use them.

When you decide to quit, you have to quit smoking everywhere all the time.

One thing that was recommended to me prior to my quit (and the car was my big concern, too) was to put the smokes and/or lighter in the trunk.

Don't be frustrated.   Get MAD at the habit and make a change!!!!  You can do this.

What Marivi said.  I used straws in the car a lot.  I even carried some cut up straws in my purse.  It is amazing how well that works.  Take your ashtray out of the car and your lighter.  Don't have cigarettes & matches with you, duh.  If you are quitting there should not be any cigarettes, matches, ashtrays, butts, nothing.  Get some air freshener and spray your car so it smells good.  Hope this helps.  Just don't smoke.

Keep the Quit
