Hang in there Pookie! Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug! Life does that to us even when we're not trying to quit smoking, some days just suck! But, there are some things you can do, deep breathing helps, cold water, straws, licorice, something to keep your mouth busy and your mind occupied! The worst is over, you are on your way!
Keep on going, there is a wonderful freedom awaiting you, and it is coming your way every day that you stay smoke free!
Not One Puff Ever, NOPE, hang in there!

Hang on Pookie!
You are fighting your mental addiction! We have an addicted brain, and it's the brain not your body who is experiencing the withdral. Try to change the words. Inestead of naming this urges CRAVINGS, call them SMOKING TOUGHTS. This is a mental hard and challenging game; so get all the help you can get. Right now your body is clean. It is our brain who wants us to fall into the nicotine trap.
Look at every SMOKING TOUGHT as an opportunity to deprogram your brain. We work really hard to program our nonsmoking brain and turn it into a smoker. Now is the opposite. Every time a smoking tought arrives shout NOPE. Your brain will learn.
These smoking toughts become less frequent and intense with time, because we have had more opportunities to deprogram our brain.
Stay positive Pookie. You can do it. And be proud of yourself!

pookie,

There is no sense in denying it, cravings are no fun. Sometimes, it can be even harder to understand the cravings and what has triggered them. You have already received a lot of great advice from other members here.

As other members have suggested, read through previous posts by other members and continue to remind yourself of the benefits of being a non-smoker.

Stay strong and stay close to the boards. You can do this pookie, we are here for you every step of the way!

Congrats on getting through Hell Week Pookie, that is an awesome achievement!! Everyone here has given you great advice. I am one week ahead of you, so I understand where your coming from. Day 10 and 11 were the hardest so far for me. The way I look at it is the transition between hell week and heck week is the same as going from the physical battle to the mental battle. Your body is clean, your addict is ANGRY!! Now your fighting the addict in you, keep starving it, keep beating it down. Its going to be a long battle, and some days will be worse than others. But when it all comes down to it, your saving yourself from alot of misery. Smoking sucks, it stinks, you know all this. Just remind yourself of why you comitted in the beginning to take back your life. Hang in there, I'm paving the path for you, on my 15th day, follow me.

Oh that darn monster.  He just sit back there lurking and waiting for a moment to pounce on your quit.  He knows you are winning and he is an awful looser.  But you are stronger now and you have a whole lot of us here standing by your side waiting to kick his ash to the gutter.  Put your SSC shield on and boots and let's do some serious kicking.  I have heard too that breaking dishes helps, buy some cheap ones, or walking, drinking water, you said you liked to clean, how about cleaning out drawers, or sit down and write your feeling down.  Lots of things to do, just don't smoke, ok?

Just like Rock says.....Reward.....your brain receptors are used to having the feelings that nicotine gave it......it's the craving.  The hardest thing we have to do now is to make those receptors happy with something besides a smoke.  It's crucial.
This is the mental aspect  of fighting the addict......saying N.O.P.E. and making our receptors happy.

You're starting that mental battle now........Read about how others fought it.......Read "Why you think about smoking" in another part of the forum.......it helped me a bunch.

We're with you and we all been there....HUGGGGGGG

The nicodemon looked at your stats and saw that you are 7 days smoke free.  Almost all of the nicotine is out of your body now, so the physical aspect is good.  Its the mental aspect.  All the things that nicotine did to your brain receptors is gone.  Your brain misses the chemical reactions the nicotine caused.  I know for me, Heck Week was more fighting cravings than during Hell Week.  But you've got a great quit going!  Keep taking it one day at a time, be sure to reward yourself every day with a simple pleasure to show your brain that you don't need the nicotine, and keep saying Not One Puff Ever.  You'll get through this Pookie!  Continue to post if you have a craving and somebody will be by shortly!
