Your story sounds like mine. The first and worst panic attack I have ever had was after I took an ambien for sleep. That was October 2003 and I have had panic attacks since then. I am taking Lexapro and it does work well for me but last night I had another WHOPPER of an attack and I have still felt the effects all day long. I just want to go slide down in a corner somewhere. I would love to hear more about your natural therapy.

Hey lisav I had the same thing happen to me when I tried meds. I tried Effexor after the first few days I became very light headed and dizzy a lot of the time, so I through my meds out as well. I think personally that getting over this without meds is the right way to go. I know we can do it we just have to keep trying and not give up. Take care lisav.

Hi all, Year ago I had my first severe attack. Early that day, went to see my doc because of emotional problems I was going through. I had a 7 mth old daughter at the time, having major problems with my family and was starting to feel like I was losing my mind. I started to cry uncontrollably to him and I think he took that and diagnosed it as "depression". I felt sad, although not depressed. I think the family issues were taking a toll but I needed a listening ear more than anything. I felt much better after leaving the office but he presecribed to put me on ZOloft. I had an idea what it was and figured it would be worth a try. I hadnt done any research on it or its side effects. I had my first pill with dinner that night...went to bed...but could not sleep. I was tossing and turning, felt funny. I got up to get a glass of water and BOOM! It hit me...all the symptoms of a full blown panic attack. I thought i was dying and had called the ambulance in because I had NO idea what was happening. I think it was almost to conincidental that I was going through that after taking Zoloft. I threw those meds out the next morning and vowed NEVER EVER again to take anything without being totally informed. I decided to take the natural route. I started to see an Acupuncturist..she worked on my stress points and advised me to take American Ginseng. I started to feel alot better, more energy. Although I stopped the treatments and the Ginseng a couple months ago, still felt good, although was again having family issues. I also started to take notes about these "mild attacks would happen"....these were easy to control but noted that most often they happened before and during my period...I had another big attack the other day, a year after my first attack. I had a feeling it was coming because I had overexerted myself over the weekend plus still having family issues. The combination of both seemed to have done me in. This one was even worse than the one I had last year. Still feeling the after effects of it. I did go to see my doc again and advised him to take some blood work to ensure it was nothing more than what I thought it was. He is running tests for my thyroid, vitamin and mineral levels and a whole wack of other things. I see him on Monday to g
