Hi Lauren, Thank you so much for your reassuring words, I thought the HCG levels were lower in an ectopic, but I know you would know, Grace another member has helped me so much also. Would you not think a urine home test after 13 days late of a missed period would come up positive Lauren?? You say it would come up positive even if it were ectopic? I took 3 tests, one at 3 days late, morning urine, one at 7 days late, evening urine, and yesterday, first morn urine! My stomach is cramping and hurting, and I am sick to my stomach, light-headed and so panicky! My husband took my son to his MOther's so I am all alone and feel so scared, my period will just NOT come, I know nothing about "perimenopause" people say I am too young {44} I am not having hot flashes or night sweats or "dryness" if you know what I mean, I almost wish I were, that sounds strange, I know, but at least it would be somewhat "normal" I get scard since I am so late {if I am not pregnant} I will bleed and hemmorage to death! These thoughts are so negative and I am trying to chase them away, I have a GYN appt Wed, I had to go out of our insurance plan because the HMO is so bad, my primary has no openings, my only option is ER and I really do not want to do that, I just wish I could STOP thinking this is ectopic, or cancer, I have never been 2 weeks late, I am like clockwork every 26 days, in Jan I had two periods within 3 weeks, I have heard that could be the change, but then in Feb I was normal, if you could give me some information since you worked in a GYN office I would be so grateful, this pain and panic is killing me, I actually feel like I am dying! Sorry to ramble on or bother you, I apologize I am all alone and so scared. Thank you, Deb.

Debbie I came across your post and just wanted to help reassure you. I worked in a OB/GYN office for a few years and normally ectopic pregnancies are associated with HIGHER levels of HCG. The levels rise too quickly which should mean a positive test. Have you gotten your period? Hope you are okay and all works out.

Hi Grace, How are you doing tonight? DId you work? You must have alot of energy full-time job and 4 kids, I guess you do what you have to do, I am thinking of going back to work perhaps it would take my mind off all my ailments. I did not go to ER, the pain is a little better now its kind of in my upper stomach and a little queasy its probably the "fall-out" of all the stress, does panic and worry totally exhaust you too ? I feel like I have been beat, so tired and exhausted, between the stomach pain {and worrying about it} and the pregnancy scare and all the conflict with my husband I am spent. When I was pregnant with my son I got a postive 3 days after my missed, so I am just going to go with the test results, the last one after almost 2 weeks would of shown something by now, I promise through if I get worse I will go, I know nerves can do such things to the body I would not even of believed before I developed panic disorder, when I fist got it I would have horrific upper abdomen pain and I actually would vomit blood! I did not have a ulcer it was just panic, unbelievable what the body can do. You sound like you enjoy your job, that must be so rewarding helping those women, I can tell you must be great at it because of the way you helped and comforted me, thank you Grace. Debbie.

Well it is a good thing for your doctor to erring on the side of caution. She is covering herself and you. What i said is in general, usually your body will continue to build HCG hormones that show positive preg. test. If I do a ultrasound with a patient who has a positive pg test, and I see nothing in the uterus then I always advise her to follow up with her doctor to rule out an ectopic pregnany. With ectopics you will usually have pain on the specific side it is on. Sharp pain. They can do an ultrasound for you at the ER to rule out the ectopic if you are really concerned about this being the case and you can tell them your doctor thought you needed to get one to make sure. I am one of those that work in the medical field so my thought is if you have concern, then go to the ER and tell them WHAT your concern is and stick to your guns. If you are really worried about a possible ectopic then tell them you want an ultrasound to rule it out. That will at least put your mind to ease. I do not want to worry you either but I am not a doctor and there is always that small % of women whose bodies work differently. Like for example those that are several months preg. and still show neg on a urine test. They are slim, but it still happens. Did you talk to your doctor about other things such as possible kidney stones? Urine or bladder infection? Those will also cause pain in the back and pelvic pain and side ache. Honestly, I think if you are still feeling THOSE specific symptoms you should have some labs done (blood and urine and possibly an ultrasound) to see if it could be one of the things I listed. Hugs to you. I am glad you have a good therapist. I do know when you find the medication that works for you and helps you, you are so thankful.

If anyone is out there please help. GRACE I hope you log on tonight. I told you about yesterday how the new Doc would not see me she called back this evening and said perhaps I should go to the Emergency room, she contradicted everything the woman GYN I have an appt with next Wed said and what Grace said {I trust The GYN and Grace more!} I told her my pregnancy test came up negative after 13 days late, she said I should have a blood test and it could be ectoptic. Please Grace reassure me again that HCG would show up no matter where the egg was, I was feeling so much better, fianlly forgetting about pregnancy, I should NOT have answered the phone, she scared me to death! I think almost 2 weeks late on your monthly would show up if positive. God I wish this could be over, just when I started to feel better, not expecting or ectopic, this Doc says this! I am still cramping with back pain, but I have been for 3 weeks even before I was due, are urine preg tests good? THis is SO frustrating and confusing! I accepted it was perimenopause and was just going to skip or be late and she says this, perhaps she is just erring on the side of caution. I am going to forget that call and relax the GYN said different and she probably is the one too know. I saw my THerapist today, we did not do EMDR but talked alot and I feel better, she is very sweet and compassionate, she thinks ZOloft is the wrong med for me. The cramps and pain are still worrying me, sometimes I think I am just concentrating on it too much, and I know nerves could do that, they are just like bad menstual cramps with back pain. I hope everyone is doing good tonight, Grace, Gina and all of you. I am here if anyone wants to talk. Thanks, Debbie.
