This sounds like what happened to me during my quit. I have to think that it is normal, since so many others had the same thing happen at one time or another. It's just mind games that the addiction is playing. Your physical cravings are gone, but your mind tells you that a cigarette would be nice. Don't focus on that, don't entertain that thought. Try organizing or cleaning, it worked for me. If it hadn't gotten easier, I wouldn't be smoke free today, NOT A CHANCE.
take care and stay strong

Hey mr lucky, I'm only about a week ahead of you but I feel so much better than I did last week! I found from day 21-27 the hardest, not sure why. I was extremely stressed last week and I have no idea how I didn't smoke, but I didn't and it passed and its better now! Keep the faith!

mrlucky,

You are doing great in spite of how things might feel at the moment.  You've got OVER three weeks under your belt and really that is a huge accomplishment.  Are you giving yourself rewards along the way?  It may seem silly or indulgent but they do help a great deal, especially during tough spots.  Even if it is just something small (but meaningful to you) it can really make a difference.

Also, if you made a list of reasons why you wanted to quit, now might be a good time to bust it out and give it a look over.  You are probably already enjoying some of the benefits that you may have wanted - better sense of smell and taste, more energy, etc.  It might help re-up your resolve and let you see that you are making progress.  This is the time when quitting isn't quite as exciting, people in your life may not be as supportive or they may think you should be "over it" by now.  The fanfare dies down a bit as it becomes part of your normal life rather than something you are doing.

This will pass, but the only way is just to take it a day or hour at a time and keep adding up the days you put between you and your last smoke.  But you've already saved almost $100 and added 4 days to your life - it'll get better and the freedom on the other side is well worth all of this work in the beginning.

All the best

mrlucky,

Use this to help you push forward!  It is normal to feel this way and it will dwindle.  If you continue to experience feelings of depression, please check with your doctor to assist you.

Hey Lucky!

I am going through a teirrible bout with the depression.  But I know that if I cave in to the craves it will just make me feel worse.  The depression and anxiety will pass.  For me it comes and goes,  I have decided to take the natural route and take St John's Wart.  It helps with the depression and anxiety.  If it does get worse I will go with my alternative and let my Doctor write me a prescription.  But she too said that it can be caused from the withdrawals of smoking.

So I am going to wait it out and see if it gets better.

Just hang in there and whatever you do don't give in to the crave to smoke.  It will not help anything.

Mr lucky,  I don't know what happened to your parents, but it must not have been good if it is a motivator for you.  Everybody feels the way you do right now, and it can go on for some time.  You may need to consult a dr. if it starts to get worse, a lot of us needed meds to get through the process, including myself, for the anxiety.  I wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for the medication.  It is a very difficult thing your body is doing right now, so all the help you can give it is the best.  Don't feel as though your alone, these feelings are normal, and difficult to get through.  I cried a lot, but it does get better.  Hang in there, it is a fight worth fighting.

Sending good thoughts,

Kelly

Hi Mr Lucky,
I'm right behind you in the mileage count, and I really understand what you are saying.

Sometimes I get so darned TIRED of fighting, just want to give in because that would be the easiest thing to do.
It makes me feel depressed and sad and terriibly lonely. BUT.....digging deep to find the inner fight always works. Its hard to do, but worth it in the long run. Try to think about why you quit to begin with, and how proud you were at each milestone so far. I know you have it in you, 23 days has proven me correct.

We CAN and WILL do this.

Sending strong thoughts your way today.

Theresa
