A quick google search on 'quit smoking metabolism' turned up alot of information.  Your doctor may benefit from reading some of it too.

I think I recall reading that smoking speeds up your metabolism. It would stand to reason that quitting would slow it down until your body adjusts.  I think many, many people can attest to a feeling of fatigue in the early days.

You may tend to eat more than you used to. Your body's absorption of food is improved as well, so you will gain more nourishment even if you don't eat more.  However, every body is different and will react differently to the quit.  Some metabolism will speed up and some may slow down.

I went to my doctor yesterday and we talked about how your metabolism slows down when you quit smoking.  She said it was a myth and it does not slow down at all.  You just think it does because your are eating more and ussually not exercising anymore then you did when you smoked.  I don't know, but I kinda think she may be wrong.  What do you guys think??
