zoloft and insomnia

Hi mikkie, I can understand why you may be hesitant to start on more medications. You may want to discuss with your doctor about possibly waiting to see if the simple change in the timing of your medication (i.e. in the morning now) will make a difference for you. Please be careful about taking any supplements unless recommeded by your doctor. These too can have side-effects and may interact with medications or not be appropriate for some people. You may find deep breathing exercises or relaxation techniques helpful. Sometimes a warm bath or shower or a caffeine free warm drink helps. thanks grace and casey the Dr. swtiched it to the am and lowered my dose also gave me ambien and ativan. I don't really want to take either why should I have to take another medicantion to counter act the medication I am on. Do any of the other medication have less side effect than this. Are there some natural things I can take.

Hi mikkie, I would suggest that you follow up with your doctor or check with your pharmacist. As bygrace suggested, some people get relief from this symptom simply by altering the time of day that the medication is taken. They may also be able to suggest relaxation techniques to help you combat this symptom. Casey _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

I would first suggest taking your medication around 8:am in the morning. That helped me with insomnia. SECOND, you can ask for ambien (Rx) or take a tylenol PM and those usually work well too.

I have been on zoloft for about a month I have had some side effects most of which have gone away expcept this week a new one has cropped up insomnia. How long does this last? will it go away with time? if it doesn't what are the alternatives. My doctor may switch me to Lexapro but from what I read it has similar side effects.
