Quitting smoking has been the best beauty treatment I've ever had :-) My complexion isn't waxy anymore, my lips have natural colour, my eyes are clear, my sleep is deeper and more rejuevenating which gives me a refreshed and alert appearance, my teeth are cleaner, my hair is shinier, the weight I've put on has given me a more curvacious figure, and I am told I look younger than I am. I'm so glad I don't smoke anymore...yesterday I was at the mall with my sister and she stopped to buy a pack for herself and it cost just under $15.00- for one pack of smokes!!! At the tender age of 75 after smoking for 58 of those years and being quit for 37 months now, I can attest that the body does indeed rejuvinate itself. I am enjoying great health, don't caugh, don't have a hard time breathing and have a lot of endurance. I walk 2 to 3 miles every morning even if the weather is bad. My buddy J R (mans best friend) is right there with me. If I just could get him to do this in the evening, we could stop for a beer along the way. QUIT SMOKING and rebuild your mind and body any one can do this, you just have to want it bad enough. Members, The good news is that so much of the damage done by smoking is reversible and the body starts to heal right away. Aloha, you are so right to put a positive spin on this. The positive benefits of not smoking are very evident and the list is just as long form head to toe. Stay tuned as we continue to move down. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

And finally down to the bottom, decreased circulation can aid in the growth of toenail fungus, swelling of the ankles and unsightly varicose veins. But Aloha is right. Stay focused on the pluses of being a non smoker. we've been told all out lives about the negative aspect of smoking and apparently that didn't stop us. We've watched family members and loved ones die long and painful tobacco related deaths. Didn't phase us a bit, we kept right on smoking. It wasn't until I found this place and the determined positive attitudes of the quitters here that I finally found success. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Members, How does smoking affect your body? Starting at the Top As a smoker, you're at risk for cancer of the mouth. Tobacco smoke can also cause gum disease, tooth decay and bad breath. The teeth become unsightly and yellow. Smokers may experience frequent headaches. And lack of oxygen and narrowed blood vessels to the brain can lead to strokes. Lungs and Bronchi Moving down to your chest, smoke passes through the bronchi, or breathing tubes. Hydrogen cyanide and other chemicals in the smoke attack the lining of the bronchi, inflaming them and causing that chronic smoker's cough. Because the bronchi are weakened, you're more likely to get bronchial infections. Mucus secretion in your lungs is impaired, also leading to chronic coughing. Smokers are 10 times as likely to get lung cancer and emphysema as nonsmokers. Sylvie
