I have been useing ice water too. It helps. I think that I am going to go shopping when I am away this week to see if I can find a nice water bottle. It will save me money because I buy botteled water and I can fill my water bottle at home before I leave for the office. That will make a nice reword for Sunday! LOL I may just buy 1 a week intill I have a few to do me. I can put them 1/2 full in the freezer at night and then fill them up. Thanks bj for the great ideal. I had lost a little weight before the Quit, so I am hoping to not gain a bunch of weight, but if I do ... a chubbier me is better than one that smokes. I have been using the sandwich plate for my meals and not a dinner plate. I bought a brownie the other night.. but I cut it into 4ths. a reward may be a "bite" of the chocolate.. I also bought some pudding cups, applesauce in single serving cups. I have some cans of unsalted almonds. walnuts.. the good nuts.. I bought a cute "nozzly thing" water bottle.. it looks like a minature water cooler jug. I have some bottles of cold water in the frige at ALL times.. and a water bottle with me. It is amazing that a few sips of icy cold water can help so much.. make it fun My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/10/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 493 Amount Saved: $77.65 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 5 Mins: 35 Seconds: 59

I have tried to reward myself each day but it gets hard,I did not know that it was so importian. I did get a new jacket' and flowers for my 1 week. But have not followed through with the rewards that I had set up. I plan on following through with the rewards for now on. I will not let any thing get in the way of my quit. So now I am planing on buying 7 rewards and than giving myself one each day. This week I plan on buying little tings like bath beads for Monday, new tooth brush for Tuesday, Candels for Wensday, Night cream for Thersday, New Book for Friday, and than for my 2 weeks I will take my hubbie out. He is being so supportive he desreves a reward too. I will be away for the next 4 days on business so I will not be in tuch. Thank you all for being here when I need help. I was having a little craving when I came on and read this and now in just the short time it took me to plan my rewards I am ok again. I have been having a dickens of a time since this morning. When I went to pack I fund a full pack of somkes in my luggage. I through it in the garbag but then I started to think about them being there. It is funny I do not want a smoke but it keeps poping in my head that I threw out a full pack of smokes when I could have geven them away. I threw them out because I did not feel right giving them away and enableing someone to stay smoking. Then I though I am becoming an exsmoker. I now understand why exsomkers nag smokers about smoking. We know what it is doing to us. Any way I am rambleing on. Loved the Post Josie, I learn somthing new every time I come in hear. good idea, Greger..protect that quit. This reward concept needs to be constantly pushed into our brains. Lately, I have been having some very strong cravings on my days off. It is very irritating; those constant thoughts of smoking all day. It is like a weight on my back. I know that I still have this association between smoking and relaxing...like out on the patio after a days work is done. I have been having crazy thoughts like, You can have one once in a while..just to relax. I know that is a danger zone. I have relapsed so many times in the past by "just having one". I am going to plan my days off this week so I have things to do from the time that I get up. But, it has been very hard. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 289 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,936 Amount Saved: $1,445.00 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 7 Mins: 50 Seconds: 47

I gave myself many many small rewards until I had rewarded myself with a 25 pound weight gain. Then I rewarded myself with a new wardrobe, since apparently my laundry skills were directly related to smoking and somehow all my clothing shrunk. Losing weight and getting fit are to be my 1 year reward. Until then I can do any thing I want I can eat anything I want. It's all about me and my quit. Myth: Rewards are an unimportant part of my quit and I dont need them. Fact: The nicotine found in cigarettes triggers the rewards centre of your brain producing feelings of happiness. When you quit smoking, this initiation of the rewards centre doesnt occur any more so its important that you trigger it by outwardly rewarding yourself. A reward doesnt have to be huge, just something small that makes you feel good. Josie
