Paxil and Birth Control...Need Help!

for 20 år siden 0 29 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi nikole, I did take the paxil cr for about a week and a half, made me feel dilusional...higher anxiety etc. So I stopped taking the CR and tried the Reg. paxil 10mg and instanly (like 3 days later felt great). I think the 15 mg cr was too much for my body to start on. Now I am up to 20mg's after being paxil 10 for 2 months. I am hoping to stay on the 20 mg's for a while but I have only been on the 20 for about 2 weeks so I still feel the initial worse anxiety and spaciness. They say it can be worse for about 3 weeks before it gets better.

I have been taking Celexa (SSRI) for about 2 1/2 months now with no interaction with my birth control. You can look online and get a full description of your medication and any medications that will interfere just to be sure for your self. I know how hard it is to trust others... I did lots of research before I went to the doctor, and already had a list of meds and all pertinent info to bring with me. It made me feel more comfortable talking to the doctor and undestanding what he was telling me. Hope this helps!

Hello, I took paxil and birth control at the same time and didn't experience any problem at all. Everyone is different though. I don't take paxil anymore, a personnal choice and am still currently on birth control. Again, I'm not a doctor, but it didn't pose a problem for me! Do expect side effects from your paxil though, which will have nothing to do with your birth control. Good luck and I hope this info helps.

Canadian, If you remain unsure, then check with your pharmacist as well. The pharmacist can tell you about any side effects, interaction with other medications and dosage use. Keep strong, Josie

Hi everyone, I guess this question is more for the ladies. I am supposed to start taking paxil cr 12.5 and I am so terrified of this. I am trying to work up the courage to take the first pill...afraid something terrible will happen. I am currently on birth control and have been for 8 years, has anyone else taken paxil or another SSRI with birth control, my doctor tells me they dont interact, I may just be using this as another excuse not to take the pills, but maybe if I know for sure there wont be any interactions with my birth control it might make it easier. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
