Congratulations Carlos on 20 days. Glad you are feeling better, and guess what? This is only the beginning of feeling better. I remember coughing and wheezing, clearing my throat all the time. Then, one day I realized, hey all those bad things are gone, yippee. Being a non-smoker is the best gift a person can give themselves. It takes a lot of hard work but it is so worth it. Hi Carlos, I'm glad to see you're feeling better for not smoking. It really does make a difference when you don't smoke. More energy, easier to breathe, etc. Take this journey one day at a time, one craving at a time. The cravings become less and less in time. You are doing fantastic! Keep up the great work. Cheers, Jan :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/27/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 775 Amount Saved: $263.50 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 14 Mins: 44 Seconds: 51

Hi Carlos, and great to see you're still here, and still quit. Isn't it fantastic to realize that you can breathe more easily? I had that quite recently when I had to run for a train. Stress is a trigger for me, too. There's a thread in "forum for new users + general discussion" called "help, please" where I was desperate for support after a particularly stressful day, and where I got enough support and advice to keep my quit. It may be worth reading for you. All the best, and well done! Carlos, It's fantastic to hear that you are starting to see some of the benefits of not smoking. This is great encouragement for our newer members and you've included some great tips to help get you through the cravings. Your lungs have already started to recover, in fact after only three days of not smoking your lung capacity starts to improve and after three months your lung capacity will have improved by 30%. Keep enjoying all of these positive physical changes. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

Great Carlos thanks for letting us know. I am so glad to hear you are already feeling better. When you get a craving ..just remember it is the "junkie" it will shrink.. and the times will get shorter. I try to keep a bottle of water with me..Cold is best... but carrying it around with me it is not always cold.. I bought a refillable one. I also keep some mints with me. Keep up the great job and know we are here for each other. I wouldn't have made it this far without the site. Thanks for taking the time to fill us in on how it feels this final time. This is great information for the new people quitting and an excellent reminder that cravings can jump out at you from nowhere and being aware of them ahead of time (preparing ) makes the coping techniques that much more powerful. Congratulations Carlos... I am breathing a lot easier and able to talk and walk at the same time which could not do a week ago and it has been only 19 days without a cig I think I am over the physical cravings now but feel the need to light a cig when under stress or after something is not going my way. I read somewhere to time my cravings, so what I do is to look at my watch and wait five minutes; sometimes the cravings go away without noticing it or get a diet drink and sip it slowly I understand that it will take some time until my lungs recover from 30 + years of smoking The road to recovery started a while ago but I am on my way. I am going to wait a couple of weeks and see my doctor for a checkup. Will keep you inform My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/7/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 400 Amount Saved: $20.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 7 Mins: 57 Seconds: 27
