Different meds

Will it stop, Hey there. I am just like you. I hate relying on meds but I feel as though I have to now because I'm so depressed about having anxiety. I am taking 5mg of lexapro. I just started the other day. I take it at night and feel nausous(sp) in the morning but that's about it. Also, just like you, I have no appetite. My psych told me that weightloss is very common with Lexapro. So I don't know who told you otherwise. Everyone is different though, and since we have anxiety, we make our own symptoms. So just hang in there with Lexapro. I've heard many good things. Keep in touch. Oh yea, I also take a 1/2 of .25mg of xanex if I feel an attack. We're on the same page which means a lot to me. We can get through this together. The spacey feeling hasn't gone away yet, but I learned to just keep on going about my life, even though it's the hardest thing in the world to do. Just think, it hasn't killed me, so why worry about? Ok, take care!

I guess I should have mentioned that I'm 10 mg per day of Lexapro, which I take at night when I go to bed. The Ativan is .5 mg 3 times a day. I still have the gripping feeling in my chest & the lump in my throat like I'm going to cry. Not everyday, but I did today. Just an uncomfortable feeling. My Dr. is going to see me after 2 weeks on the Lexapro to see if it is for me or not. One thing I must say, since I started taking it, I feel like I'm going to throw up and don't really have an appetite. But in reading other posts, I've seen people talk about gaining a lot of weight while taking it???? I don't know what I will switch to if this Lexapro doesn't seem to do the trick.

spriggy Hi. I am still debating whether or not to take lexapro or not. I started and then stopped taking it all ni a matter of days. I don't feel right so I'm giving it another week and if I still don't feel right, I am going to start taking it again. Also, I might take .25mg of xanex with it. Just to help me get by while the lexapro takes effect. OK just wanted to tell you that.

Well, we are in the same boat. I am on day 6 of Lexapro ( 5 mg's). I don't know if I like how it makes me feel or not. I know that probably sounds weird but part of the day, I start feeling like I am getting better, than I start to feel really weird and spacey again. I have decided to give it ONE month, if I still feel this way, I will stop taking it. I also take .25 (which I cut into half) of Xanex if I feel like I am starting to have an attack come on. It takes the edge off but doesn't make me too loopy. It's just enough to help but I really, really hate relying on medication. I struggled with the decision for a while but because of my life situation and responsibilities (I have a severely autistic son), I had no choice but to get myself help quickly so I can take care of him. Update me on how the Lexapro works for you. Oh, also how many mg's are you taking??

Jayfloydci: Thanks for the reply, I don't feel like alienated so much anymore of reading this site...I am not alone, but we are all just spread out all over the place!!! I'm on day 5 of the lexapro, I take it before I go to bed & it eliminates the spacey feeling, you sleep through most of it. That is what my Dr. suggested. As for the ativan, I hate that stuff, but she said I'm not ready to wean off it yet. It does stop an attack fast though, so I can't complain about that. I was wondering if anyone else can give me their thoughts about lexapro and ativan, good or bad?

Hi Will it stop I am also new to the site. I been having panic episodes for a month now and my doctor wanted to put me on Lexapro. I took that for a week and I made the mistake of reading the literature. I gave myself every side effect possible. Although everyday is a struggle I deal with the feelings without meds. I just don't trust meds. I feel spacey and bewilderment 90 percent of the day. It's horrible. I am here for you cause I know what you are going through. Feel free to email me any time. jafloydci@yahoo.com ok take care and tell yourself positive things...you'll start to beleive them.

Will it stop, Thank for taking a look at our site. If you browse to the left of your screen, you will find many useful tools and tests at your disposal. These tests can help better assess your situation for you and your doctor. Please also try our Panic Program. It is very helpful and you can take your time to walk yourself through it. You have been through a lot in the past year and need to work through some of your issues. Perhaps ask a therapist to assist you in sorting your thoughts. We also have a Pnainc Diary that can assist you in writing down your feelings. We are here to help and listen, post often. Josie ______________________________ The Panic Center Suport Team.

Hi all, I'm new to the site and have some questions. I've been reading your posts and have learned a lot of good info. I just started my panic attacks in the beginning of November. I live in FL, survived the hurricanes (with damage to my home), have lost 3 friends this year and then I had to put down my Golden Retriever who was almost 12. A week later I had my first panic attack. The Dr. put me on Ativan, which makes me feel weird and now they just started me on Lexapro. Can anyone give me any info on these meds--side effects, etc. Lack of sex drive is one and that is causing some problems here at home. Any advice would really help. I've never had anxiety or panic attacks, but my doctor thinks that the traumatic/stressful year that I've had was finally just too much for me to handle. I've cut my caffeine and alcohol, maybe a glass of wine once in a while. Any more than that and here comes the panic attack feeling the next day. Any other suggestions? Happy New Year, let's hope the next one is better than 2004 was!!!
