The quit was really hard for me so i had to play it like a game and at the end of the Day i would say that the day gone by still smokefree was my reward,i treated myself to Frozen yougart on my way home from work alot of days in the beginning. Iam like BC i just feel so lucky to have quit, i feel better and better all the time, the rewards for quitting are plenty :) Tresa My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1986 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 39,720 Amount Saved: $6,951.00 Life Gained: Days: 283 Hrs: 21 Mins: 33 Seconds: 2

I did not start incorporating rewards into my quit on a regular basis soon enough! It is very important. I do not know if it motivated me, (ie,if you don't smoke today you can buy some perfume, educating myself about nicotine addiction was my main motivator) but it sure makes me feel good to buy something for myself, or take some time to relax or do something out of the ordinary, like get a massage, or a pedicure. It helps relieve the stress that we experience when we quit smoking. It helps build our self esteem back up. We do deserve nicities. And when we do overcome a difficult situation or a big crave, a reward is well deserved. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 234 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,616 Amount Saved: $1,170.00 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 14 Mins: 39 Seconds: 2

To begin with I reward myself each day, Just doing something nice for me. Sometimes my reward is just sitting quietly and thinking about how my body is healing without nicotine. It is the little things that add up. When we smoke we know we are taking advantage of our health. We may not think about it openly but we do think about it subconciously ( each little cough-stain on our teeth ) and it drags our self esteme down. I am so aware of all not smoking is doing for me. When I get a craving now, and they are rare, I can't help but think how lucky I am to have come this far. I also think this Mod's corner is very helpful. I am very grateful for this site and all the help I have recieved from here. It is only getting better. In general, your reward should have three components: Small rewards after overcoming cravings Medium rewards for each smoke free day Large rewards for achieving smoke free weeks, milestones or getting through difficult situations smoke free. You should reward yourself as long as it keeps you motivated. As you get more comfortable in your quit, you may find you are rewarding yourself less and less. That's ok. Just try to keep in mind to re-incorporate your reward system should an urge to smoke creep up. Josie
