Tubbies, Although not much fun, take this as a good sign! You're body has finally been given a chance to heal itself and is doing so. Chemical changes occur in the mouth and throat as much damage is done by inhaling hot smoke. Your doctor is able to prescribe topical ointments if they are really bothering you. tubbies, are you eating? You must eat something every few hours because as the nicotine leaves your body, it really messes with your blood sugar. Eating some cheese and crackers, fruit and nuts will help keep your blood sugar up. Stay away from sugary stuff -- it will make your blood sugar spike and then crash. I call it the heebie-jeebies, that shaky feeling you get when your blood sugar is low. Also, the mouth thing is very normal...do a search here on mouth sores. Lots of folks suffer mouth pain, but it will go away. Stay away from citrus and other acidy food for a bit. You can do this! When the going gets tough, the tough keep going. Don't let yourself down with a splurge on cheaper death sticks, that's definitely goin to make you feel a hell of a lot worse than you feel now. The mouth pain really sucks but it goes away. So does the insomnia, the hefty cravings, the 'wind of death' aka horrible gas pain, headaches, the shakes and every other really awful withdrawal symptom out there. These symptoms are all nic's way of staying in control of you. tubbies, We all know what you are going through. Even searching for the cheaper cigs is part of the quitting journey. As is, switching to lights, or a brand that advertises "no additives", or only allowing ourselves 10 a day, or only smoking on the weekends, or at night. These are all deceptions that the addiction leads us on with. You know the bottom line. Smoking is a horrible addiction that is linked to many, many fatal illnesses. They are extremely expensive; they make us smell bad, they CAUSE (instead of relieve) anxiety. The list of negative impact on our lives goes on and on. Do what you need to do to stay smoke free. Take a nap, or a hot bath, or go for a walk, or cry. Take some deep breaths and use some positive self talk. Be proud of yourself for those 4 fabulous smoke free days. Think about and heed what Sparky has shared with you. It is the truth. My thoughts are with you. Ok. You go on your 'money-saving' venture and 'save' whatever. I've saved about $10,000 dollars so far and with the added bonus that hopefully, I still won't die of a smoking-related illness. It is not impossible to quit. Tubbie, I know how hard this is. If you give in now you will only be mad at yourself. Listen, I have had more slips than I care to say. What I learned is, it is so much easier to go though this and get it over with. If you smoke you are only going to wish you had stayed stopped. Then you will plan another quit date and have to go this all over again. Believe, unless you like going though withdrawal over and over and over it is so much easier just not to smoke. Our bodies go though all kinds of changes in the beginning but it will get better. Just don't smoke today and then when you wake in the morning decide what you want then. I hope you choose not to smoke. hi everyone. so very nearly gave in to the nicotine. nearly at the end of day 5 but i keep getting bad shakes, my stomach feels horrible (sickly) and glands in mouth are up and sore. just don't think i can do this. keep thinking about doing a day trip to spain and bringing a years supply of cigarettes back. that way i can carry on smoking and save money... aarrgghh!!
