Good Morning Sara- I found a web site last night that is sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Companies. They provide humanitarian services to those of us that cannot afford our meds. The site is: www.helpingpatients.org This wonderful organization will send your Dr. a 3 month supply of all of your requested meds. It doesn't matter if they have different manufacturers. Follow the instructions, fill out the application, have your prescribing physician sign the prescription portion and you're on your way. There are income guidelines that must be met, but it does look very promising. IMPORTANT: Apply before you run out of current meds. I'll be sending in my application in this week. My meds should reach my Dr. in 4-6 weeks. I hope a lot of people can benefit from this service. I never knew such a service was offered. Della

I used to take paxil, I took it for about a year... twice. Anyway, the whole weight thing... yeah! I gained about 20 pounds because of paxil. It slows down your metabolism, as well as many other things. It does get rid of the anxiety and panic attacks though that's for sure. Just watch what you eat and maybe the weight thing will not be a problem. I'm sure also that it depends on each individual person. Good luck with it!

Chris and Gina- I quit smoking, too. I was taking Paxil, but I've had an allergic reaction to it and was rushed to the Emergency room, with chest pains and a major rash. I take Effexor XR now. I wonder if the makers of Paxil realize the added benifit of their drug. I've been smoke-free for 6 mos now. At the time I went to the ER I was also on Vioxx. I'm on Bextra now. I've found I love ice cream. Especially the orange sherbert push-ups. I also found I crave "comfort food". When I was working 2 full-time jobs, I'd just forget to eat. When I finally became hungry and had time to eat, I'd be suprised that 5-7 days had gone by. I absolutely had no appetite before I started taking meds for anxiety. I've gained 25-30 lbs since Labor Day. I exercise every day, but because of my Fibromyalgia I'm left very sore, stiff and in pain. To all who have quit smoking: We now spend our ciggy money on gas, but our lungs are in rehab. Della

just my thoughts- I took paxil for four years. I definetely recommend it for panic and anxiety. As far as coming off of it-I did it super slow and everything was fine. I know there are alot of horror stories about it but I didn't find that. I was a little dizzy but that's it. Hope that's encouraging.
