I've been on Medical Leave since Labor Day weekend. I am scheduled to return Jan 21, although I'm very sure I'm not ready. I work for a company that makes electronic chips for computers, cell phones, hearing aids, etc. I work 12-hr shifts on a fast-paced production line that plates the chips with silver, gold, platinum, etc. I have seen no change in my mental state since going on leave. In fact it's gotten worse. Since taking leave; I was denied my short-term disabilty benefit because I filed a claim within the 1st anniversary date of the policy, and because of this I was told it makes my condition "Pre-Existing". Also, since I've been out of work for more than 12 weeks, I lose my medical and pharmacy coverage and must take COBRA. I can no longer see the Dr's, or take my meds, I just can't afford them. My meds cost me $500.00+ without insurance. I have firomyalgia, GAD, depression and PTSD. This whole experience is driving me crazy (literally). I took leave to pursue a vigorous physical therapy program and then saw no benefit from it--only the excruciating pain.
Hope all goes well for everyone. It tough being broke, especially at Christmas (I'll turn 47 Christmas Day).
Happy holidays to all,
Della from SC
