You did the right thing and posted first. Yes, there are some rough times to ride out, but you can do it. Keep reading, stay close. I wonder though, what your nicotine replacement plan is? I used patches and inhaler, like you have, and used them together. I think I only went through less than 10 cartridges before I knew I didn't need them anymore and then continued on with the patch alone. If you have chosen to use nicotine replacement, then use it according to the instructions. The patches and inhaler are an aid to quitting and work well when used in conjunction with other programs such as this one. Check it out. Don't give in. Starting again is not easy, so don't go there. It is that thought and knowledge that keeps me quit! Remember It's a choice! tubbies and ayla, Remember....you guys are already NON Smokers. The minute you stopped you joined the ranks of the non smoking population!! So what...big deal....your thinking about smoking. Ya know what?.....as a smoker you thought about it all day long anyway. Better to think about smoking as a non smoker than a smoker. If you have one, your only going to want one a little later anyway. That acomplishes nothing. Take it one hour at a time. In a little while you will count your days...and than your weeks and very soon you'll be counting your months. The chemical your brain is screaming for is NOT NEEDED to live. The only thing you should be needing with such dependecy is AIR!! ;p Breath deeply....exhale a few times and make a list of the positive things you are noticing about NOT SMOKING. We tend to spend to much time thinking about what we're missing (nothing) and not enough time "noticing" the positive things happening to us. Listen to what your body is saying to you. Heck, I use to prentend I was smoking with the deep breathing (like I could fool my brain or something) Whatever it takes. It gets easier as time goes on, just don't give up. tubbies & ayla, You guys are doin it! Take it an hour at a time, if you get through that then you can get through another. Deep breathes and some exercise if you can do it. A walk around the block, some stretches maybe? If you haven't made a list of why you want to stay quit, this might be a good time. If you have one, bust it out and remind yourself why you are doing this. It's hard to see it right now but it is SO worth this tough bit at first. Have you planned some rewards? Something to look forward to? A hot bath, a nap (oooohhh naps are good!), a great meal, a call to a friend? Getting through Day 1 definitely deserves a reward. As the others said, it will get better and the benefits are amazing.
