Gees I am going through the exact same thing. I am having really weird thoughts going through my mind that would also usually resemble something from a horror movie. These thoughts occur during or after a panic attack and I have symptons like dizzyness, sweaty palms or finger tips and rapid heartbeat. Its just recently that I started having these thoughts. Also for the record I never really watch horror movies.
I dont think you are going crazy otherwise I would be crazy and for now anyway I think I am sane... :)
I usually pray about it and ask God to clear my head of the ugliness and ask for a peaceful sleep. One time I asked for a peaceful dream and I had a wonderful dream about being with my father who died 2 years ago. Try reading Psalms in the Bible before bed. God is our comforter but you must be open to Him and reach out.....He wants us to. Take care
I completely understand the horror of having intrusive or antagonistic thoughts in your head. I don't have them before attacks but when I was a teenager I began to realise I had all these tracks going on in my head usually full of grotesque thoughts and a lot of swearing and had hardly noticed before since it just seemed normal as a kid. Over a few years I managed to dissipate them by imagining them as mist in my head that I would expel with steady exhalations of breath or to fling them off the tips of my fingers, I found the best way for me to do it was aggressively and then relax after the symbolic expulsion and repeat it until my mind felt clear and it got to the point that I would do it automatically anytime an unwanted thought came near my conscious. It's important, if your thoughts are disturbing not to feel responsible for them they're just trapped energy whirling around picking up the more unpleasant debris from the encyclopedia in your brain, i find it helps to return the thoughts to energy and send it out of your body. Anyway, I'm tired and rambling lol, I hope this helps in some way, but you're definitely not alone with that.
Hi, I'm new. :)
I was wondering if anyone else experiences disturbing thoughts immediately preceding a panic attack? I usually have an attack while trying to fall asleep, and lately I have noticed that before the symptoms (shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, intense fear, etc.) begin my mind creates this bizarre mental image out of nowhere, like something out of a nightmare or a horror movie, and I am unable to control my thoughts away from the image. Sometimes I will be in the middle of a relaxation techique (daydreaming or breathing exercises) and totally zoned out when an image of something completely random and horrifying pops into my head. And I can't let go of the image, like my mind is fixating on it completely against my will. From there, a panic attack is inevitable.
I've had attacks for about a year now and this only started in the last week or so. For the record, I've never had a panic attack in my sleep and I haven't had an actual nightmare since I was a little kid. No recent trauma either. I'm really starting to think I'm going crazy. Has anyone heard of this before?
Thanks!!
